Marshallese Culture Day

The rich and varied traditions of the Marshall Islands will be featured during "Marshallese Culture Day," Saturday, April 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. During the event, master boat-builder Liton Beasa will begin construction of a kōrkōr, a traditional Marshallese wooden canoe. Beasa will build the canoe on the museum grounds over the course of several weeks. The Shiloh Museum is located at 118 W. Johnson Avenue in downtown Springdale. Selected
Selected, an exhibit of objects from the Shiloh Museum collection chosen by guest curators from across the region, opens Monday, April 16. The exhibit is part of the museum's 50th anniversary celebration in 2018. Selected will be on view through April 13, 2019. The Shiloh Museum is located at 118 W. Northwest Arkansas Wildlife

Nature photographer Terry Stanfill will share some of his favorite photos of Northwest Arkansas wildlife during a slide program at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, Wednesday, April 18, at noon. Birds, Bees, and Butterflies
"Birds, Bees, and Butterflies," a workshop on creating backyard wildlife habitats, is set for Saturday, April 21 from 12:30-4:30 p.m. at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. At 1:00 p.m., Tom Krohn with the North Central Arkansas Audubon Society will present "Creating a Nature-Friendly Yard." At 2:00 p.m., Master Naturalist Linda Glass will discuss "Hosting Butterflies and Other Pollinators with Native Plants." Information will be available on building frog ponds, planting milkweed for monarch butterflies, and participating in the Arkansas Audubon Society's Bird-Friendly Yard certification program. Beginning Monday, March 19, 2018, there will be changes to route schedules in
Springdale.
Route 61 is unaffected.
Route 62 is adding a second, counter clockwise run, resulting in two buses on the
Route.
Route 63 will reduce service hours to 8:22 AM - 4:22 PM.
Route 64 will cease operations.

Temporary lane closure on Elm Spring Road overpass scheduled March 19-21



Springdale, AR – The contractor working on the Elm Spring Road overpass, Manhattan Road and Bridge, has requested a lane closure on the eastbound, outside lane on Elm Springs Road from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday, March 19 through Wednesday, March 21. This closure will start on the east side of the bridge and go to 45th St./Elm Springs intersection. This lane closure on the Elm Springs Road overpass will allow the contractor to work on punch list items that are required by the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ArDOT).

Spring is in the air, and all of Northwest Arkansas is prepared to come alive again!
Ozark Regional Transit (ORT) is offering free fares during Spring Break (March 19 – March 23) for
all 11 fixed routes in Northwest Arkansas.
Spring Break is the first of several free-fare periods that ORT offers each year. We encourage
ORT passengers to use this opportunity of free fares-- and free time offered by the break-- to get
out and enjoy all the wonderful springtime activities that our area has to offer.
Free fare is for fixed-route service only. Pre-scheduled paratransit and demand/response service
remains at the $2.50 rate for one-way passage.

Submit a nomination for the Springdale Spirit Award!



Springdale, AR – The City of Springdale is currently accepting Springdale Spirit Award nominations for the second and third quarters. You do not have to live in Springdale to submit a nomination; however, the nominee must be a Springdale resident. There are two award categories: Student and Adult. The Mayor will choose an adult and student winner for each quarter. The deadline for second and third quarter nominations is Friday, March 16.



Winners will be invited to meet the Mayor and will be interviewed and featured in our quarterly newsletter, on our website, and social media properties.
