*COMELEC Proclaims ER Ejercito as New Mayor of Pagsanjan, Laguna*

PAGSANJAN, LAGUNA — In a dawn ceremony at the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Pagsanjan office, located at the Pagsanjan Municipal Hall in Barangay Poblacion Uno, ER Ejercito was proclaimed the new mayor of Pagsanjan, Laguna. Ejercito garnered 10,190 votes, surpassing incumbent Mayor Cesar Areza.

The proclamation took place at 2 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, and marked a significant win for Ejercito, who previously served as Mayor of Pagsanjan from 2001 to 2010 and Governor of Laguna from 2010 until his removal in 2014 due to an overspending case. This case was recently dismissed by the COMELEC, paving the way for his return to politics.
Ejercito's running mate, Jan Garcia, was also proclaimed Vice Mayor. Additionally, three of Ejercito's teammates secured seats in the municipal council:

Ejercito's victory marks a new chapter in his political career, which was previously marred by controversy. His proclamation as mayor comes after the COMELEC dismissed the overspending case against him, allowing him to run in the May 12 elections.
With this development, Ejercito is poised to serve the people of Pagsanjan once again, 12 years after his last term as mayor. The municipality has a population of 44,327, according to the 2020 Census, and consists of 16 barangays.
