Pakistan is observing the 18th death anniversary of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto today. She was assassinated on December 27, 2007, in a gun-and-bomb attack near Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh.

The Sindh government has declared a public holiday, while tight security has been put in place in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, Larkana, where hundreds of thousands are expected to gather at her mausoleum. President Asif Ali Zardari, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, and senior party leaders are attending the commemoration.

Leaders paid tribute to Benazir’s legacy as the first female prime minister of a Muslim country, praising her struggle for democracy, inclusion, women’s empowerment, and minority rights. Her message of “democracy is the best revenge” continues to inspire generations across Pakistan.

Samsung is reportedly developing a new foldable smartphone called the “Wide Fold,” which could launch in the second half of 2026, according to a Korean media report.

The device is expected to feature a 7.6-inch internal display with a wider 4:3 aspect ratio and a 5.4-inch outer screen, offering a more tablet-like experience compared to current Galaxy Z Fold models. Samsung has not officially confirmed the device or its specifications.

The rumored launch timeline closely aligns with Apple’s anticipated first foldable iPhone, which is also expected in 2026. If released, the Wide Fold could set the stage for direct competition between Samsung and Apple in the foldable phone market.

Islamabad court has directed private airline Airblue to pay Rs5.41 billion in compensation to the families of victims of its 2010 aircraft crash, after turning down all legal challenges filed by the airline. According to court officials, the verdict was delivered by the District and Sessions Court in the federal capital, which rejected eight separate appeals submitted by Airblue.

In addition to the compensation amount, the court also imposed a penalty of Rs1 million on each appeal, resulting in a total fine of Rs8 million against the airline. The compensation will be distributed among the affected families and individuals who suffered losses in the tragic crash near Islamabad in July 2010, which claimed the lives of many passengers.

The ruling marks a significant legal development in one of Pakistan’s deadliest aviation accidents and reinforces judicial accountability for airline safety and passenger rights.
