A vehicle in the convoy of wife of the Nigerian president, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has killed a seven-year-old girl identified as Saratu Lawal in Akure, Ondo State, SaharaReporters has exclusively gathered.

Mrs Tinubu was in Akure on Thursday to flag off the South-West leg of the Renewed Hope Initiative to improve the well-being of women and girls across the country and distribute no fewer than 10,000 professional kits — comprising Crocs and scrubs — to nurses and midwives in the South-West region.

Multiple sources told SaharaReporters that a butter coloured hilux in the First Lady’s convoy knocked Saratu around Oba Ile while the president’s wife was moving from the airport to the venue of the event.

“A seven years old girl by name Saratu Lawal, and a pupil of Islamiyar Arabic School, Shasha, was knocked down by a butter coloured hilux in the government convoy of her Excellency, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is on official visit to Ondo State,” the source told SaharaReporters.

“The incident occurred Thursday 17th April, 2025 in Oba Ile, before the Oba Ile Central Mosque.

“It claimed the life of the child as every effort to save her could not yield the desired result even when she was rushed to the primary healthcare in Oba Ile.”

When contacted, Malam Lawali, the father of the deceased, who is a trader at Oba Ile market, said he has “handed everything to God.”

SaharaReporters learnt the lifeless body of the child has been handed over to the family for burial in line with Islamic injunction.

Calls put across by SaharaReporters to Ondo Police command’s spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olushola were not picked nor returned.

Text message sent to his line was yet to be replied as at the time of this report.

In the dark of Sunday night, tragedy once again descended upon Plateau State, Nigeria.
Over 50 souls were lost in Zilkke village, Bassa Local Government Area, after armed attackers stormed the community, leaving behind a trail of sorrow, destruction, and unanswered questions.

Around 8 p.m., the peaceful village was shattered by gunshots. Women, children, and elderly residents fled for their lives as more than 40 homes were set ablaze. Survivors speak of chaos, terror — and deepening fear.

This attack is sadly not isolated. It comes just two weeks after similar coordinated killings in Bokkos Local Government, where over 80 people were mercilessly slaughtered.

While the exact motives behind the latest attack remain unclear, residents suggest it may be linked to earlier isolated killings reported throughout the past week.

The Irigwe Development Association confirmed the horrifying events. Yet blame and counter-blame now swirl: some villagers accuse Fulani herders, an accusation quickly denied by Fulani leaders, who called for full investigations and justice for the real culprits.

The driver of the bus is popularly known as RO.

PHOTOS: Many Injured As Plane Crash Lands

A private Hawker 800 (twin-jet) (H25B) (CN-TKC) aircraft belonging to an aircraft charter company was involved in a serious accident at Fez-Saiss Airport after it skidded and rolled over at the end of the runway while attempting to land from Marrakech-Menara Airport.

According to preliminary information, the aircraft was carrying three crew members who suffered multiple injuries and were quickly transported to hospital.

Angry Protesting Farmers Dump Bodies Of 4 Colleagues K!illed By Herdsmen Near Governor’s Office |

Farmers resident in Ondo State on Tuesday, April 8, stormed the streets of Akure to protest the killing of four of their colleagues by some armed men suspected to be herders.

The farmers in a bid to express their anger dumped the bodies of their colleagues on the street near the office of the state governor.

According to the protesters, the farmers were killed in the early hours of Tuesday, at the Thirteen-Thirteen farming settlement in Ajagbusi area of Ala Elefosan, Akure North Local Government Area of the state.

They also alleged that 17 of their colleagues have been killed in similar attack by suspected armed herdsmen within the past three months.

Causing a serious gridlock in the area, several motorists were left stranded after the protesting farmers blocked the roundabout leading to Oda road and the governor’s office.

Speaking during the protest, the Head of Adeshina Community, Olu Samuel said members of the community are fed up with the incessant attacks.

Samuel said, “Three farmers were killed in the Thirteen Thirteen camp in the Ajagbusi area of Ala Elefosan in Akure North Local Council. They were on their way to the farm this morning (Tuesday) when the Fulani herdsmen attacked them and shot them. One person was also killed two days ago.

“We purposely brought their bodies to Alagbaka for everyone to see what we are facing and to prevent any form of denial, which we have experienced in the past,” he said.

He also called on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to put in more efforts in addressing the incessant attacks on farmers by the armed herdsmen.

“It is disheartening that the government will continue to allow these killings to be going on. What we are certain about is that if we should defend ourselves and kill the attackers, we will be arrested and taken to Abuja.

“During the late former governor’s administration, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, this kind of thing was not rampant, but with the current governor, everything has gone awry. We are tired of these continuous killings; we can no longer sleep in our communities.

“Mr Governor should help us and stop these killings. People that are being killed are humans, not goats. More than 20 farmers have been killed in the past month,” he pleaded.
