Earlier this morning, John Carroll Catholic High School honored the late Pat Sullivan—legendary Auburn University football player, coach and JCCHS alumnus—with the official Heisman Memorial Trophy plaque in a press conference at the school’s newly renovated fieldhouse. John Carroll has been authorized to display the logo on its new football field, Pat Sullivan Field, and is the only high school in the United States to have been given this honor.

Made possible by Jean Sullivan—Pat’s wife—and the rest of the John Carroll Excellence in Athletics Foundation, JCCHS’ multi-million-dollar athletic facility renovation now includes new Shaw Sports Turf Legion NXT 2.0; a Benyon 100 track; the state of Alabama’s largest (high school) Daktronics video board and more. The cherry on top? Pat and Jean’s grandson, Alex Pankey, along with Shelby Company, completed the renovations. The Sixth Annual Jimmie Hale Mission Rescue Run 10K, 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run was held yesterday in downtown Homewood with proceeds from the races benefiting the Mission and its efforts to end homelessness in Birmingham and surrounding areas. Take a look at some of our favorite shots:

We loved getting to hear from Homewood Police and Fire chiefs Tim Ross and Brandon Broadhead at the Homewood Chamber's Monthly Membership Breakfast this past Tuesday! Ross and Broadhead each shared some updates regarding improvements in the city and what lies ahead for their departments in the coming months.

What an incredible find for the McWane Science Center!

🐢✨ A family fishing trip in Alabama turned into a one-in-a-million discovery — the fossil of a 32-million-year-old leatherback sea turtle!
Now named 𝘜𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘶𝘮, this incredible fossil is one of the most complete ever found. McWane Science Center’s own paleontologist, Jun Ebersole, worked alongside fellow scientists to study the new species, shedding light on the ancient history of sea turtles. 🌊🔬
