HOW MUCH CHANGE CAN HAPPEN IN FIVE YEARS?
It’s 2022, five years ago was 2017.
In a span of 5 years, I:
✅ Quit my job. Let several job opportunities pass.
✅ Built my own company, but failed
✅ Started another business, it was doing well, but eventually gave up
✅ Once in my life, I chose myself
✅ Got hurt and criticized for finally choosing myself
✅ Fought hell hard for something
✅ Travelled out of the country!!
✅ And a lot more of travelling in the country!!
✅ Did seeeveeeraaall road trips I can’t even count!!
✅ Conquered my fears
✅ Finally had the courage to get out of a toxic relationship
✅ Betrayed by people I cared so much about
✅ Lost a lot on experimental business ventures and unforeseen circumstances
✅ UPSKILL! Learned so much about industries I’ve never known before
✅ Lost a lot of friends and family members
✅ Went out of my comfort zone, Went broke, got betrayed
✅ Learned franchising and building assets
✅ Felt lost
Confused and unconfident with the path that I am taking, I picked up all the lessons:
➡️ PAY YOURSELF FIRST! Whether it’s love, income, faith, respect, dreams, give all of these to yourself first!
➡️ Don’t cross the ocean for people who wouldn’t even cross the puddle for you. Again, put yourself first!
➡️ It’s okay to give, but again, put yourself first.
➡️ Know the tricky difference between respect and utang na loob. Respecting someone doesn’t need to have any reason. The only valid reason to RESPECT someone is that, that person have so much respect to themselves. People who RESPECT you because you give something to them, because you are doing them a favor, because you are helping them or because they need you, are not people giving RESPECT, it is indebtedness.
➡️ A person’s value is never equal to a person’s income. Be a man of value, not for how much you are earning, but for how much you impact other people’s lives by your learnings.
➡️ Don’t chase people who chose to leave you.
➡️ Whatever you do, people will always have something to say. Pick up the lessons and shrug off the negativities.
➡️ Never be blinded by a person’s stature. We are all equal.
➡️ Don’t waste your emotions getting mad at something you have no control of. You can only control how you will react. Always choose to be kind. EQ does the magic.
➡️ Contentment is the secret to a peaceful life. Slowly but surely making your dreams happen is the secret to success which will eventually lead to a peaceful life. You choose.
➡️ Never lower down your self-worth. Read that again.
➡️ There is always a better way of saying and doing things. To become better, always think of the better way.
➡️ Not working doesn’t mean not earning.
➡️ Having faith and having trust are two completely different things. If you have to choose, choose faith.
➡️ Effective sales don’t need to be about chasing people. The better way to do it is the other way around. Read that many times over.
➡️ A little time spent doing something consistently is a lot more productive than spending the whole day doing so much.
➡️ Mastery is the key!
➡️ Embrace INNOVATION. It will take you places.
➡️ Be limitless and you'll see there's nothing you can't achieve.
➡️ Never be afraid to go out of your comfort zone. Prepare to be surprised with what you can discover more about yourself.
➡️ When you are failing for trying, be grateful.
➡️ Don’t brag to anyone until you are done.
➡️ Small smart steps will eventually lead to great unexpected outcome.
➡️ Choose your partner wisely. Never settle for less than what you deserve.
➡️ Love is not enough to keep the relationship.
➡️ You don’t stay with someone just because of what this person can do FOR you. You stay with someone because of what you both wanted to achieve TOGETHER.
➡️ Never force yourself to heal. Take your time. Healing is a continuous cycle. Pray, accept, forgive, heal, repeat. It’s a never ending process but make sure to never forget the lessons along the way.
➡️ Mistakes are never the reason you fall. Giving up is the first step to your downfall.
➡️ Look at the brighter side of life, always.
➡️ And of course, my greatest life lesson: Everything happens for a reason. Stop blaming anyone, but instead, always be the bigger person by knowing in advance that whatever you’re going through right now, it is what God needed you to go through as He molds you to become a better version of yourself.
You see? There are more lessons than failures. Always count the lessons.
Then I came across several repeat presentations asking: What do you want to be five years from now?
Seriously, I don't know.. Well, 5 years has passed, just like that. But if you ask me now, am I getting closer to who I really wanted to be?
A BIG YES! Still have a lot to learn and improve on but YES! I am a step closer and I know I will eventually get there!
Anyway, whatever you decide to do, even if you hustle daily working your butts off, work 9-5 plus travel to work 4 hours a day; go home dead tired so you jump straight to bed skipping dinner, or you decide to just lay low and watch time go by, five years will still come and go.
Question is: What will you do today to be who you wanted to be 5 years from now?
