vide important information to the citizens of Polk County Wisconsin, based on public scanner traffic, as well as public interest stories and community events. We reserve the right to post what we feel is relevant or newsworthy, as well as delete any offensive comments or images. Please keep in mind that we are volunteers that have families and jobs and that this page is not monitored 24/7. We will only post information that we hear and can be confirmed. We ask that you refrain from posting incidents. If you have an incident that you feel needs to be posted please message us through the page. There are certain things that we do not post such as medical calls, photos of accident victims and information regarding deceased persons. DO NOT USE PROFANITY.

3. Do not post comments that are meant to intimidate or threaten others.
4. Please refrain from making comments while we are covering a call. We ask that you wait until we show all units clear then make your comments.

6. Do not post assumptions or rumors as to what may have happened or who did what.

9/25/24, Clear Lake, WI - FATAL CRASH

Emergency calls started coming to 911 dispatchers around 5:18 AM when an SUV collided with a farm tractor in the thick fog.

Law Enforcement, Fire, and Ambulances were dispatched to the crash on Highway 63, just north of the county line near Clear Lake. EMS attempted life-saving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead. The tractor's operator had minor injuries.

The name of the victim will be released pending notifications. The crash remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.

Assisting the Polk County Sheriff’s Office with this incident was Clear Lake Fire/First Responders, Clear Lake Area Ambulance Service, Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Polk County Medical Examiner.

* At 552 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Scandia, or 27 miles north of River Falls, moving northeast at 30 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected.

Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

On Saturday, August 31st, 2024, at 2:01am, Burnett County Dispatch received a call from OnStar, reporting a vehicle crash near 28624 E. Bass Lake Rd in Oakland Township. Deputies arrived on scene a short time later and located a single vehicle crash with three occupants. The driver and front passenger were pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver was identified as Layne W. Leitner, 25 years old of Bloomington, MN and front passenger was identified as Kyle R. Orloske, 34 years old of White Bear Lake, MN. A third occupant of the vehicle was trapped and later extricated. The surviving passenger was transported via Air Care to a hospital. The Wisconsin State Patrol was requested for a crash reconstruction. Initial reports indicate that the vehicle travelled approximately 120 feet off the road before striking a tree.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this crash. This case is still under investigation.

The Burnett County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank North Memorial Ambulance, North Air Care, Webster Fire, St. Croix Tribal Police and Wisconsin State Patrol.

8:15PM UPDATE: Luck and Eureka outages restored. Crews working on outage affecting 33 members near Cumberland and a small outage affecting two members near Range. Hopefully all restored soon and clear skies ahead! Thank you for sharing updates with family and friends. Have a good night.
7PM UPDATE: Lineworkers found a tree down on a 3-phase power line. They are working to remove the tree, make repairs and restore power for members in Luck area. Estimated restoration time is 9pm.
Lineworkers are also responding to two smaller outages near Eureka and southwest of Cumberland; 33 members out at each of these locations. Thank you for your patience this evening.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 515 PM CDT FOR NORTHWESTERN DAKOTA...SOUTH CENTRAL CHISAGO...EAST CENTRAL ANOKA...WASHINGTON AND EASTERN RAMSEY COUNTIES...

At 502 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Lindstrom to near Stillwater to Cottage Grove, moving east at 30 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

These severe storms will be near... Stillwater, Bayport, and Afton around 510 PM CDT.

Other locations impacted by these severe thunderstorms include Newport, Otisville, Lake St Croix Beach, Wyoming, Willernie, Lakeland Shores, North St. Paul, Lilydale, Sunfish, and Oak Park Heights.
