Best + hardest section of the CDT yet! Thanks Colorado for kicking our butts 🙌 Tennessee Pass - Winter Park (105 miles). Most of the unmarked trail was summiting 13,000ft passes on repeat while walking the crest of the ridge. We think most people skip this section because there was no trail, only cairns to mark the way to the top of each peak. The views were worth it! We slept at high altitude (experienced crazy dreams) + walked the knarliest, windiest ridgeline to summit Grey’s Peak (14,254 ft/4,352m and the highest point on the CDT) on Ville’s 45th birthday 🎉 Thank you SO much to everyone who sent him birthday wishes + all the great friends we got to see along the way. ❤️ Best finish to the section? A group of ladies hiking near Winter Park who welcomed us into their home! Colorado, bringing the trail magic 😇 Until next time, keep on, keepin’ on y’all 😘

Happy Birthday, Hyvää Syntymäpäivää, Feliz Cumpleaños, Ville!! I couldn’t have asked for a better partner in life. You are so kind, loving, generous, thoughtful, intelligent, spontaneous and Wild. Traveling with you has been the most rewarding and joyful experiences in my life. Thank you for always hiking, and riding, behind me (because I’m so much slower than you are) so that we can always be together ❤️ You make me strive to be a better person and are the white rice to my spicy habanero 🌶️ I hope this next year is full of happiness, adventures and the making of great memories. I love you from the bottom of my heart. Happy 45 babe. 🎂🎈🥳😘

P.S. I scheduled this to post before we left our last town stop (and without Ville’s knowledge) before heading into the mountains so if we don’t respond, we are without service. We will respond when we can. Thanks everyone!

CDT, way to bring the fireworks! 🧨 Salida - Breckenridge, Colorado (160 miles) We are early for Colorado + they had late snow, so we hiked the Colorado Trail from Salida to Leadville to hike more trial than snow ❄️ It hasn’t been without climbing (7000+ ft of gain in a 23 mile stretch in one day 😳) but we met some great new friends (Cass + Sage are bikepacking + hiking addicts we spent a day with). AND we enjoyed some friend time! Sarah got us tickets to see James Taylor at Red Rocks (first time for both) and OMG!! 😱 What a show! ‘Traveler’ was the theme, he played ‘Mexico’ (where we began this hike) + we met James after the show!! We told him we hiked from Mexico on the CDT to see him and he said, “you guys are nuts!” 🥜 Couldn’t agree more James. Thank you Sarah + Rich for some great memories, Cass + Sage for hiking with us, all of you that stopped for a chat or a ride, we so appreciate all of you ❤️ Until next time, keep on keepin’ on y’all!

❄️ Our snowy CDT Hike continues! 🥾 Chama, New Mexico - Salida, Colorado (200 miles). Whelp, we’ve now reached the snow. We began the hike early because Colorado had a low snow year + while hiking through New Mexico, Colorado was hit with late snowstorms. No turning back now. We’ve hiked through some snow, taken lower routes when possible and made it to Salida, CO. We’ve encountered lots of deer, moose 🫎, grouse and even a bear 🐻 Thank you Colter in Creede for bringing us our forgotten sandwiches 🤦🏽‍♀️, for all the trail angels who stopped to give us a hitch into town + Gunnison Trail Crew for maintaining the trails! The adventure continues…until next time, keep on keepin’ on y’all 😘

Bye bye New Mexico, Hello Colorado! Cuba - Chama, NM (159 miles) 🥾 For over the past week we’ve been climbing between 9-11,000 feet and although the views are stellar, it’s been windy, cold, and we’ve now hit some snow. We had a great overnight stop at Ghost Ranch to refuel + shower. Thank you New Mexico for all the good times! Colorado, here we come…
