Happy St. George's Day.

St. George has been the Patron Saint of England, since 1350, but did you know that the original Patron Saint of England was St Edmund, who was an Englishman.

St. George was probably an officer in the Roman army sometime around 300 AD, did he live, or even visit England. There is no evidence that he ever set foot on English soil.

The most famous story is of him killing the dragon. Again this is more myth than reality. But there is an interesting fact. St Edmunds standard was the white dragon. Given that St. George rose to prominence after the Norman invasion does the dragon represent the original people of England? There is no evidence either way, but it's an interesting thought.

Tomorrow (28th April) is St. George's Day. Yes, it's normally on the 23rd, but this year that fell during the celebration of Easter, so the day was moved to the 28th.

Saint's days get moved, but as this particular Saint is the patron Saint of England (not the UK, or Britain, just England), it's caused a bit of confusion, and outrage. People who weren't aware that the day was moved upset that some people hadn't mentioned it, and those that celebrate Easter as a religious holiday upset that some brands had mentioned it during the other festivities.

One of those things to be aware of, like or follow for other headache avoiding tips.

It's fake, a scam, if Meta want to get hold of you they will do it directly via your support inbox, or directly via your notification. Delete, move to spam, or report for pretending to be another business, or all three.
