Diaspora Spotlight: Okoth Linus Brian (Ajuogaz) – Powering AI Innovation at Meta

From the quiet landscapes of Homa Bay County to the cutting-edge tech corridors of Silicon Valley, Okoth Linus Brian, fondly known as Ajuogaz, embodies the spirit of African excellence in the global innovation arena.

Today, Linus is one of the brightest minds at Meta AI in Menlo Park, California, and notably, the only African software engineer in the division. His expertise lies in artificial intelligence training infrastructure, where he develops unified ex*****on engines, backend technologies, and distributed systems that make machine learning faster, smarter, and more reliable.

Before joining Meta, Linus honed his skills at Amazon in Sunnyvale, where he built distributed systems managing metadata catalogs across multiple services and databases. His solutions ensured high reliability and scalability in mission-critical environments, earning him recognition as a problem-solver in complex engineering challenges.

His journey of excellence began at Northwestern University’s McCormick School of Engineering, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Linus also made his mark in 2020 when he joined Twitter’s EarlyBird program, emerging as first runners-up in a competitive tech challenge that brought together some of the brightest young engineers in the industry.

What makes Linus’s story powerful is not just his career trajectory but the resilience and ambition that carried him from Kenya to the forefront of global technology. His achievements inspire a generation of African engineers and innovators to dream boldly, pursue opportunities across borders, and break ceilings in the most competitive tech spaces in the world.

Okoth Linus Brian (Ajuogaz) is proof that Africa’s brilliance has no boundaries — only horizons waiting to be conquered.
