Why I Do What I Do!

Welcome, I’m James Delong. Together with my team and family at Savvy Kingdom, we bring together new and seasoned fiber artist a place for community, inspiration, and education.

Once a jack of trades in many entrepreneurial endeavors, some successful... along with many failed attempts... Combine that with over two decades of experience in the Information Technology field, I can say that I finally found my calling and am in process of committing my full attention into community building for those in the fiber arts. Specifically in Crochet.

...while wanting to do more activities with my daughter Savannah (Savvy), I realized she didn't care too much for fishing, camping, Jeeping, or the things I liked so I needed to change my thought process and do what interested her.

I found out how much she enjoyed spending time with her aunt and cousins crocheting and knew that if I wanted to get in on the action that I had to learn how to crochet. So that's when a light build went on and I said I am going to start a Facebook group about crocheting and have others teach and watch me while I go on this journey of learning the craft.

Before I knew it the group was growing in droves and while I shared pictures and videos of my process, one pic stood out for me and it was when I went to my local Sit and Stitch to meet other crocheters and knitters at a bakery.

When I posted that picture I received so much feedback from group members saying the wish they had something similar near them. A place where they could physically meet and spend time with others that also have the same passion as them with this art.

That's when the idea of Savvy Kingdom came up. I knew with my tech background that I could build a community and provide events for them so they could meet in person just as they've mentioned.

Now my mission is to bring together the online world with offline.
