I would style my stuffed animals in different tea parties

and outdoor scenarios to take their photos. When the photos came back on the next shopping trip, I would lay them out next to the typewriter and write stories. I've been training for Instagram and other social media's organic content creation since they even existed. I built my business Maven & Muse Media grassroots style learning as I went when Instagram was for iPhones only, Pinterest required an invitation, and Netflix only mailed out DVDs. Orange You Glad you're on social right now? 🧡

The recent TS announcements and countdowns created a perfect case study in on point social media trendz marketing.

The brands that successfully leveraged the sparkly orange aesthetic weren't just jumping on a trend—they found authentic ways to connect it to their brand story.

What impressed me most: the social media managers who had orange content live within hours, seamlessly tying it back to their brand's core message.

This kind of real-time jump on a trend marketing requires:
✓ A team that understands cultural moments (Shoutout to the Swifties on social teams!)
✓ Pre-approved creative freedom/processes, AND TRUST
✓ Brand guidelines flexible enough for rapid response
✓ Team members who genuinely connect with key audiences

The posts I loved didn't just go orange—they made orange feel native to their brand experience. When everyone forgets the color orange even existed.

The getaway car: effective trend marketing happens when brands have team members who are genuinely part of the communities they're trying to reach.

Check in with you biz owner friends and remind you that if you’re ordering swag in Q4, your logo and biz name deserves useful stuff to be remembered.

The marketing rule of the 1900's was that someone needed to hear or see something 7 times before they remembered your business and made a purchase.

Today with our shortened attention spans it's 14!

So....

In a world of stickers, pens, hats & Yeti cup swag- put your logo on a credit card sized ice scrapper.

Or…

You know something people will use not toss in a junk drawer, the landfill or donate to the thrift store when they get home that will eventually go into a landfill from weeks on the shelf. 🙃

Useful swag will help you get to 14 faster because they will be touching, seeing and using the thing with your logo.

And the speed they did this WHILE navigating an unprecedented crisis/scandal. Amazing.

TikTok may behave very differently moving forward: rumor is TikTok is building a new version of its app for users in the U.S.

Sources told The Information that the company has developed a plan to launch the new TikTok app, known internally as “M2,” to U.S. app stores on September 5 — ahead of a planned sale to a group of investors.

TikTok users will eventually have to download the new app to be able to continue using the service, although the existing app will work until March 2026.

The investors involved in the deal have reportedly been finalizing the legal and financial details with ByteDance, and the group expects it will be announced when the Chinese government approves the sale — though there's no timeline for that.

It’s unclear how — or if — the TikTok algorithm would change in this process. Any disruption to the FYP (For You Page) recommendation engine could have major ripple effects across the platform, potentially shaking advertiser confidence, shifting where creators focus their efforts, and altering the user experience.

For now, we wait and see 👀
