IBM is set to make a leap in quantum computing with the release of its largest quantum computer to date in 2025.

By linking multiple quantum chips in parallel, the company plans to create a system with an unprecedented number of quantum bits, or qubits.

This ambitious project aims to break existing records and eventually surpass the size of the largest quantum computer by more than threefold.

The journey began just six years ago when IBM introduced its first commercial quantum computer, a 20-qubit system available to researchers via the internet. Today, its most advanced chip, Condor, boasts 1121 qubits. However, the company plant to more than triple the size of the largest existing quantum computer by linking them.

The planned 2025 system will take quantum computing to the next level, further expanding the possibilities for complex calculations and advancing fields like cryptography, artificial intelligence, and material science.

In 2009, as McDonald's closed its doors in Iceland, Hjortur Smarason decided to keep a burger and fries as an experiment to see how long it would take to decompose.

Over a decade later, the meal remains surprisingly intact, with little sign of decay. Now displayed in a glass cabinet at Snotra House, a hostel in southern Iceland, the meal has garnered global attention.

Visitors from around the world stop by to see the "indestructible" burger, and the livestream of its preservation attracts up to 400,000 daily views.

The phenomenon has sparked discussions about food preservation and the makeup of fast food. Some suggest the lack of mold or decomposition is due to low moisture levels, as McDonald's themselves have stated that their food, like any other, needs the right conditions to rot.

Others view it as a thought-provoking commentary on modern food production and consumption. Over the years, similar experiments, like Karen Hanrahan’s 14-year-old burger and Sally Davies’ six-month Happy Meal project, have added to the intrigue. For many, the Icelandic burger serves as both a quirky attraction and a reflection on what we eat.
