9:30am Tuesday, September 30.

It's a lot this morning, with that clown in front of our best military minds. Plus, a looming government shutdown.

My congressman is out doing a photo op.

Enough.

I've worked in science and media for 30 years. I know a clown show when I see one.

We need to get science, professionalism, and rational thought back in the House.

But Dave's hypothesis has a lot of merit.

It is hard to state how incredibly significant this is.
The rash of extreme heat all around the equator is symptomatic of a serious problem or expansion with the Hadley cells that exists just to the north and to the south of the Equator.

These are stronger than normal Hadley cells are caused by the warming climate and will continue to have a major impact on the ITCZ intertropical Convergence Zone. It is one of the reasons why the Atlantic hurricane season has been below normal and also is a factor as to why so many of the Atlantic tropical Cyclones have developed outside of the tropics where the atmosphere is not nearly as warm and not as stable.

The intensification of Gabriella in the subtropics and information of Humberto Is indicative that warm the normal and larger than normal Hadley cells.

Thanks to Neighbors for Change for inviting me to answer a recurring question.

Why does a meteorologist run for Congress?

There are a lot of reasons. Among them, getting science back in the House.

I’m often asked why a meteorologist would run for office. For me, the reasons are connected to what I remember growing up in Richmond. I have loved earth science ever since I was a kid in the ‘70s and vividly remember the thick haze that used to hang over the city every summer and the news stori...

Thanks to Historic Triangle Democrats for putting together a great picnic last Saturday (9/20) and for the invitation to talk with people about the issues in Virginia's 1st Congressional District. There were so many strong conversations about reducing the cost of living, restoring civil rights, and protecting our environment!
