I get so many questions about how I developed a 5 am routine, particularly with two kids and a corporate job & the answer is simple: I care about me. A 5 am morning is for me. I love prioritizing myself, doing something good for myself, taking the best care of myself at the top of each day before I have to care for anyone or anything else. I started AM workouts just before meeting my husband and they’ve not only changed my body but more importantly, MY MIND. Below are the things I’ve found success in —
• I have a hard 10 pm bedtime deadline. On a good day, I’m already on my first dream by then.
• Magnesium for sleep helps me get solid sleep and I wake up feeling rested
• During the work week, I average about 6.5/7 hours of sleep. Would 8+ be great? Yes, but that’s not the season of life I’m in. 6.5 hours is plenty and I fire on ALL cylinders. Too much sleep can make you feel more tired and tired is simply an excuse 90% of the time.
• Is each night/morning perfect? No. The baby still has random wake ups & even when he was up 3-4 times a night, that 5 am workout gave me energy I needed to power through the day.
• Tired is relative. You’ll be tired if you wake up at 5 am or 8 am, so I choose to get up and MOVE.
