ACTIVATE YOUR SPIRIT THROUGH ΜEDITΑΤION

Thursday, April 30, 2026

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night... (Joshua 1:8).

Truth isn't powerful just because it's in the Bible. It only becomes effective when it's active in your spirit. The Word must move beyond the written pages and become alive in you, and that happens through meditation. It's through meditation that you condition your spirit with the Word for it to be operative in your life.

There are three vital levels of meditation. The first is rumination, where you ponder, mull over, and digest the Word in your heart. You give it thoughtful attention and consider its meaning deeply. The second level is when you begin to speak or mutter the Word under your breath. You're talking quietly, speaking the Word. Those around you may not hear what you're saying, but your lips are moving, you're talking.

The third level is when you "roar" the Word; you shout it! You speak it boldly, out loud. At this stage, you're no longer concerned about your environment, if there're other people present or not; the Word has taken hold of your spirit. Hallelujah! Meditating on the Word like this is so important because the more you meditate, the more your spirit is conditioned by the Word. Your fears melt away, your boldness grows, and your personality is beautified with the glory of God.

Joshua 1:8 says, "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. "Keep saturating your spirit with the Word of God (Colossians 3:16) and out of that abundance your mouth will necessarily speak: "...out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh" (Matthew 12:34). Then you'll see the glory of God manifested in every area of your life.

YOU'RE OF THE GOD-KIND

Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ... written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart (2 Corinthians 3:3).

As learnt in our previous study, Christianity isn't a set of moral codes or religious system; it's the manifestation of the divine life in a human person. You're not an ordinary being. The Bible says, "... Ye are gods..." (Psalm 82:6; John 10:34). That's because you're born of God.

Animals give birth to animals, and humans give birth to humans. If God gave birth to you through His Word, what does that make you? The Bible says, "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God..." (1 Peter 1:23). If you're born of the Word, then you're the Word, you're of the God-kind. Hallelujah!

The Word of God describes and defines you. The Apostle Paul, by the Spirit, wrote: "Ye are our epistle... known and read of all men" (2 Corinthians 3:2). Then he takes it further by saying you're the epistle of Christ. Just as the Lord Jesus was the Word made flesh, you are His Word expressed in human form, God's letter to the world.

Since this is true, live your life in harmony with His thoughts and His words. Fear, discouragement and human limitations are foreign to your nature. Live the transcendent life, the life of the Spirit. Exercise dominion over Satan and the elements of this world, for they're under your feet. Speak the Word; think the Word; live the Word.

Manifest Christ to your world; that's your calling, that's your life. You're an associate of the God-kind, a partaker of the divine nature: "Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust" (2 Peter 1:4)

RIVERS OF LIVING WATER

In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried,
saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified) (John 7:37-39).

You'd have to carefully review the words of the Lord Jesus that we just read so you can understand them clearly. In the 38th verse, He said, "He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said...." If you delete the comma after "me," it'll read, "He that believeth on me as the scripture hath said;" now, that's the correct rendering.

The translators inserted the comma in their attempt to explain what they thought the Master said, but when you study the original text, it's very clear; it's without the comma. So, when you read it, as presented in the KJV, you might think it's a scripture quotation. But what the Lord Jesus was saying is, if you believe in Him as the Scripture says, rivers of living water will issue forth from within you-from out of your belly.

What are "rivers of living water"? They are words empowered by the Holy Spirit, Spirit-inspired words that give life just as the Lord Jesus said, "... the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life" (John 6:63). Now, recall that the 39th verse of our theme scripture connects the rivers of living water to the Holy Spirit: "But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive...."

Thus, the Holy Spirit pours forth from you through faith-filled words. Your words are life-giving, ministering the power of the Spirit everywhere and to everyone; they bring refreshing, healing and restoration to your hearers. Blessed be God!

BACKED BY HEAVEN'S ECONOMY

For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it (Ecclesiastes 7:12).
