Today marks the 2nd anniversary of the Flora Bossey led exco of Edo NAWOJ. It also coincides with the Get together later today by NAWOJ to foster unity among us. There is not much to celebrate because we are not where we promised to be two years after. However, we have achieved a lot in other aspects. This is not because we have lost faith in the cause but because we have combed the state and beyond for funding of our activities but no result. We wrote to the Governor for fulfillment of the pledge to build our creche project, the reply from government was that we should adopt one of the numerous ones within the City.
We have written for courtesy calls to several places and made private calls to individuals, the response is the same that the downturn of the economy and TSA for Federal institutions affected finances.
During this period, we have been able to provide trainings for our members, partnered with an NGO to bring the 2018 international women's day celebration with the theme on Illegal Migration, Digital Skills training etc
NAWOJ also partnered with Women Trust Fund to bring training to women political aspirants on how to cultivate positive relationships with the media.
We may not have a physical structure yet, but NAWOJ is a household name now in Edo and it's members are united in sisterhood.
We urge you to join hands with us to realise our goals as we hold the baton for the next exco.
Let's also not forget our greatest achievements in the first year, hosting of the first international women's day where income generating items were donated to widows, hosting of nawojians from the 36 states of the Federation and Abuja during the Delegates Conference, sponsorship of the out of court settlement of the court case against NAWOJ and some of our members, moving the motion to lift the over five years suspension of our former chairperson in Gombe NEC Meeting of NAWOJ.as well as many more achievements space will not permit us to write here.
We thank you for believing in us and giving us the mandate to serve you. I apologise on behalf of the exco if we wronged anyone inadvertently or otherwise. Let's continue to be one in this profession because together we can do greater things. Thank you and happy anniversary to all exco members and members of Edo NAWOJ

PRESS STATEMENT
THE RECURRING PLATEAU CONUNDRUM
We consider with trepidation the continuous killing of innocent citizens in the country especially in North Central and North West regions of the country and the lack of capacity by Government to stop these wanton acts.
These killings, the most recent which occurred in Riyom, Barkin Ladi and Jos South Local Government Areas of Plateau State, have also thrown up monumental humanitarian and environmental crisis that call for urgent Federal Government intervention.
Regrettably, this inability to stop the mayhem had angered The various groups in the crisis to resort to self-help which continue to manifest in nonstop brutal acts of reprisal attacks.
The continued lawlessness and disorder resulting from the failure of Government to restore sanity in these areas have put Nigeria on the list of countries with fragile status.
We believe the various communities on their part need to do more in terms of encouraging the spirit of peaceful co-existence and resorting to alternative ways and means of resolving their differences instead of the usual recourse to violence with its attendant deadliness.
We call on the Federal Government to take urgent steps to reverse this dangerous slide before it becomes too late.
