These submissions were so good/bad, we have decided to award 4 trip to this years SCTE Tech Days July 22nd!

Congrats to Ryan Balkum, Trever Mouser, Joseph Hartman, and Jakolby "Pony" Bryant for showing us some of the joys of being a field tech.

This won't be our last contest, so keep taking those sad, gross pictures.

SCTE is a great way to to gain knowledge in the telecommunications field, be it from talking to other, more *experienced* members, or the huge amount of courses and resources that are available to members.

2026 SCTE NW TECH DAYS CONTEST!!!

THE SHASTA ROGUE CHAPTER IS SPONSORING 3 ROOMS FOR TECHNICIANS TO ATTEND THIS YEAR'S VENDOR APPRECIATION EVENT AND SCTE SHOW IN PORTLAND, OREGON.

LOCATION: SHERATON PORTLAND AIRPORT HOTEL.

VENDOR APPRECIATION EVENT, TUESDAY, JULY21TH, 6PM-8PM

SCTE SHOW, WEDNESDAY, JULY 22, 8AM-4PM.

HERE’S HOW TO ENTER FOR YOUR CHANCE TO WIN:

Upcoming RF connector trainings hosted by your friends at the Shasta Rogue chapter:

5/5 - 8a-10a: 419 Gateway Ave, Astoria, OR
5/6 - 8a-10a: 1014 Pacific Ave, Tillamook, OR
5/7 - 8a-10a: 2800 SE Hwy 101, Lincoln City, OR

Event Description- This training is a collaboration with PPC/Belden and Shasta Rouge Charter to help Field Technicians in craftsmanship of RF connectors. During this training Belden will work with the technicians to ensure their current splicing tools are calibrated to craft a connector. Technicians will be graded on the craftsmanship of a connector for this interactive training experience.

Our fearless leader Joe attended SCTE TechExpo25 and returned with pictures of the future in cable including:

-5G small cell deployment for Spectrum phones
-New ONX meter for field techs
-WiFi 7 router getting 8.8Gbps (!) over wireless

Next year's expo is in Atlanta, Georgia, September 29 – October 1, 2026.
