DJ Reverie is no stranger to Ottawa's Alternative club scene, where he's been a staple of the Goth / Industrial scene since 2009 and most recently as the DJ and promoter of PSTRNC (pronounced positronic), Ottawa's monthly Goth / Industrial dance party on the 3rd Saturday of every month at Krusch (56 Byward). He first started spinning various forms of Heavy Metal at Toronto clubs such as Velvet Und
erground and Rok Boutique in 2009. Still, the darker forms of electronic music kept creeping into his sets. After moving back to his native city of Ottawa later that same year, he sensed a gap in the genres represented in the Goth / Industrial club scene, and he decided to focus primarily on the EBM and Synthpop genres while occasionally throwing in some classics from Goth and Industrial. Between 2009 and 2012, he recorded a podcast featuring weekly one-hour mixes of the best new EBM and synthpop, promoting the genres of music in Ottawa and around the world. Between 2011 and 2013, he hosted a bi-weekly radio show on Carleton University's CKCU 93.1 FM called Future Pop, which featured classics and new EBM and Synthpop. In 2009-2010, he promoted a monthly club night called La Danse Noire, which was first held at Cafe Dekcuf and later moved to Swizzles. In 2011-2012, he was a resident DJ at Ottawa's premier Goth / Industrial club night, Death Disco. From 2011 to 2013, he served as President of Ottawa Goth (formerly known as Ottawa Goth Syndicate). This local organization hosted social events for the Gothic community and promoted the Gothic subculture. With the group, he helped promote the two-day event, Red Death Masquerade & The Aftermath, and the monthly club night, La Danse Macabre, which featured music from all genres within the Gothic subculture. In 2017, DJ Reverie returned from hiatus and had the opportunity to guest DJ for the first time in over 3 years during The Outsider Collective's Retro Underground, which occurs on the third Saturday of every month at Swizzles. He promoted a few events called Positronic, which featured spotlights on bands like Depeche Mode and Marilyn Manson. He also promoted an event with DMT Berzerk, one of CDMX's top DJs in its Goth / Industrial scene. In 2023, DJ Reverie returned from yet another hiatus and started PSTRNC in September at Cafe Dekcuf, which formally moved to its current permanent venue at 56 Byward in February 2024. The January 2024 edition of PSTRNC featured Twitch's DJette Anatema. In October 2023, he promoted a concert with London-based Synthpop trio Empathy Test.
