🚨 New FIGO guidance on preventing post-caesarean sepsis

Post-caesarean sepsis is a leading cause of maternal mortality, with infection rates as high as 20% globally.

The new review in the International Journal of Gynecology and Obstetrics, provides evidence-based strategies to prevent these infections – including antibiotics 30–60 mins before surgery, vaginal and skin antiseptic prep, safe surgical practices, like glove changes after placental delivery and early recognition and rapid treatment to save lives.

🌍 With 75,000 maternal deaths annually linked to sepsis, implementing these practices is critical.
