Yamuna the river that quenches, irrigates, alleviates millions of lives today lies lifeless bleeding pink instigating no ones attention apart from usual style of blame game play. I am aggrieved as well as appalled at the level of insensitivity rendered towards one of natures loveliest gift to our land. What would we be without our rivers may b somewhat line Sahara with Thar being classified as largest desert in world and that's about it.
Abundance of natural reserves somewhat makes us casual towards its preservation and protection. Tsunamis, earthquakes, landslides which our country had suffered in past decade seems is not enough of an to stop this rampage of nature.
To add on to this are our politicians, centre says its state responsibility, Kejriwal says its under jurisdiction of Haryana and Haryana govt is not bothered..wow what a paradox?
In name of world culture festival meant to showcase Art of living 35years of service, humanity and spiritual values, we forgot the pollution that went in to degrade the water of this symbolic river. Our Govt. issued licences but took no measure to secure the river, when environmentalist cried foul, Govt. levied a fine on the group. My call here is to both the parties involved in the atrocious act. Why was Govt. so insensitive towards conserving the obvious threat and went on to give green signal for the event? And is this act of humanity and spirituality to take no apt measures from polluting a river that also bears a religious and historical significance in this land? Or does art of living does it render this as part of their service? They feel no obligation towards this long standing and tolerant gift of nature to our land?
This is definitely not an art of living to preach or propagate. This us a call for all those involved in this act of pollution to reflect and work towards cleaning up this reservoir before it's too late.
