What does it take to fly a machine strapped to your butt, across the English Channel, with a 2-stroke scooter engine and a wing made from cloth? It takes 3 Aussies with the balls of a Big Red Kangaroo.

Tim Rowlinson, Gary Bell and Nathan Ward, a group of paramotor friends all the way from the other side of the planet who hatched a mad plan to fly from the U.K. to the Ukraine to support 2 charities providing humanitarian aid during the current conflict. Crossing the channel is a major milestone and a fantastic achievement for these tiny flying machines you can keep in the back of a family car. One paramotor of particular interest is the prototype Discovery D4 of which there are currently only 2 in the world. Mine and Gary’s. It was my pleasure to loan Gary my machine. Built by the engineering genius Bob Bauer this machine features the coveted Retracta Trike assembly also designed and built by Bob, and the Minari F1 200 engine which performed flawlessly. Tim also flew his Paramotor with the innovative Retracta Trike assembly attached. All 3 pilots completed the channel crossing in 1hr 3 minutes. What a fantastic achievement.

Aussies on adventure, flying across Europe in paramotors + raising funds for the people of Ukraine

Departing Lands End UK in early June, tracking along the southern coast before crossing the Channel into France. From there we will make a series of flights thru France Germany Austria Hungary Slovakia and finishing in Poland close to the border of Ukraine

approximately 25 flights in 21 days

We will be supporting the amazing people at Hells Kitchen Kharkiv with all cash proceeds and donating our support van to Erko who works with Family of a Concern. They will convert our van into an ambulance for use on the front.
