We are sad at Eurocinema to report the passing of a film great Jean Claude Carriere, prolific French writer, director and occasional actor. Winner of an Oscar, recipient of an Honorary Oscar in 2015 and winner of 17 other film awards including BAFTAs, CESAR, WRITER’S GUILD, CANNES FILM FESTIVAL and more. Started his career as a cartoonist, wrote novels, short stories and plays. He then went on to write and directed such film greats as DIARY OF A CHAMBERMAID (currently on Eurociinema) UNBEARABLE LIGHTNESS OF BEING, BELLE DE JOUR, GOYA’S GHOSTS a total of 309 films in his long career. He did, in fact, have 3 films in production and 3 in development at the time of his death. Jean Paul Carriere a film great will be missed.
