6/10: So, while killing time yesterday, I came upon this two handled basket purse. I know nothing about it. I have found some online from the 1970's, but feel this piece is older than that. If anyone has any insights I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you!

Isn't this amazing!

An Icelandic horse can travel the world, but home only opens once.

The real detail is how seriously Iceland protects that goodbye.

No horses are imported into Iceland, and even used saddles, bridles, and riding boots can face strict cleaning rules before entry. That is not snobbery. It is biosecurity with a mane.

For centuries, these horses were shaped by ocean, lava fields, brutal weather, and isolation. That protected their bloodline, but it also left them vulnerable to diseases common elsewhere.

They are small, sturdy, famously smooth, and known for the tölt, a special gait that can carry a rider across rough ground without the usual bounce.

So when one leaves for breeding, competition, or a new life abroad, the gate closes behind it forever.

A tiny horse, a massive rule, and one of the world’s most permanent goodbyes.

6/9: My latest sign! For anyone who knows me it will come as no surprise I spelled furnished wrong and didn't notice that error until I was completely finished. 😵‍💫 I corrected it, but well, kinda wonky.
In the early 1900's the house we live in actually rented for $25.00 per week!

6/7: Does anyone have a special keepsake? This is mine. We called it "The Marble Game." It's been handed down through generations of my family. Not sure exactly how the game was played, but was told it was a betting game.

A baby’s face can turn a family tree into a detective story.

The surprise was not in the DNA test. It was in what the DNA remembered.

Blonde hair and blue eyes can travel quietly through generations, hidden behind darker traits until the right genetic pairing brings them back into view.

That is how a great-grandfather can seem like a forgotten footnote until a newborn arrives carrying his old signature in her hair and eyes.

Hair and eye color are shaped by multiple genes that influence melanin, the pigment behind natural coloring. When those inherited instructions line up just right, a family photo album can suddenly look incomplete.

To everyone else, she looked like a mystery.

To genetics, she was paperwork finally being filed.

The past does not always stay buried. Sometimes it opens its eyes.
