Just some thoughts lol. I’ve seen a lot of people talk about how it’s hard to be killing it in all arenas—you can either be killing it at home and slacking on social media or you can be killing it on social media but maybe slacking at home. That was definitely true of me and I realized that trying to kill it on all fronts was not fun and it was preventing me from enjoying my actual life which kind of defeats the purpose if you ask me. So heres to showing up in our real lives. If that means showing up on social media as well, more power to you—I so admire your game 🫡🫡🫡

Whenever I talk about student debt there is inevitably someone in the comments who loves to remind me that nobody made me go to pharmacy school which is not entirely true because my parents are Nigerian lmao…but what I don’t think people understand is that people will always need healthcare…whether we have healthcare providers or not. And if the number of healthcare providers continues to decrease, we the people pay the price. Including YOU, up there on your high horse, judging those of us who went into debt to serve you.

The difference between a craftsman and a bungalow is one that has always puzzled me! The thing that I find most helpful is knowing that a craftsman is a STYLE of house and a bungalow is a TYPE of house. Portland has lots of cool houses and so many different styles, it’s really fun to see.

I have two student loans—a $20,000 loan that I currently pay $600 per month and then a federal loan that is close to $310,000 that I currently pay $0 on…until July that is! If we can pay off the $20,000 loan before July then the $600 can be snowballed into whatever the monthly payment ends up being instead of being tacked onto it. What do you think of my strategy?

If I were looking to break into the housing market in Portland but not spend more than $450,000, this house would definitely be one that I would take a look at. It’s located in the Lents neighborhood and it’s as cute as a button! Laminate floors but with real wood underneath 👀 Even though this home had some updates, there was still a lot of original charm from the door handles to the built ins! The back yard was a great size—large enough to host a dinner party with friends but small enough not to get overwhelmed with yard work. Lents may not get as much love as other neighborhoods on the east side but it’s a hidden gem in my opinion.

It’s been so much fun learning about these different types of houses! I am not an architect by ANY means so I am very open to being corrected. Of these different home types, the salt box was the one I was the most unfamiliar with! I feel like maybe they are more common on the east coast or something? It’s also fun trying to think about where in portland these different types of houses are. I think it could be fun to try to do a little scavenger hunt around portland to try to find all the different types of houses!

Oh my gosh, I can’t believe I left out ranches! I love a ranch! This video was really fun to make because I learned some of the different types of houses that I see all the time! I feel like Portland is full of bungalows and craftsmen but the thing is different neighborhoods have different homes primarily! Please let me know if you’d like a deeper dive into the different types. I really enjoy all things HOUSE so follow along if you’re a fellow house lover as well!
