1943-2025
Tommy β€œTom” John Glazier was born Jan. 5, 1943, to Marvin and Eileen (Garms) Glazier in Kingfisher and left his earthly home on July 15, 2025, at the age of 82.
He graduated from Loyal High School in 1961 and furthered his education, receiving an electronics degree in 1962.
Tom served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1964 and was honorably discharged April 30, 1970.
Tom and Cheryl β€œShortie” Ann Wehrenberg were married on May 8, 1965, at the Loyal Evangelical Church.
Both Tom and Shortie’s lives were rich with a love for agriculture, the Lomega community and their family.
Tom was a dedicated farmer, proud supporter of the FFA and served in many local and state capacities over the years, including the Oklahoma Wheat Growers Association, Oklahoma Wheat Commission, Lomega Board of Education (for 20 years) as well as the Lomega Lions Club.
Tom was awarded the Honorary State FFA Degree. He was especially proud of his children and grandchildren who thrived in the FFA.
Tom would always be one of the first ones at the co-op in the morning enjoying his cup of coffee and honey bun while also holding his own in any card game that took place, especially those involving pitch.
Tom greatly enjoyed anything related to Lomega Public Schools. He always cheered loud for the Lomega Raiders basketball teams and you could always count on him to have the same two seats.
His adventures – especially those shared with Mike Witt and Gayle Hajny during pig-buying season were always full of stories worth retelling. In his later years, he became an avid OKC Thunder fan and shared several memories with his cherished friend Linda Hill by his side.
He went by many names – Dad, Papa Tom, Grandpa, Sparkplug and Turtle – each one a tribute to the bonds he formed and the life he lived. He took pride in all things related to his grandchildren he loved so dearly.
He loved watching his grandchildren grow up and took joy in all they did.
Tom is survived by his son Stacy Glazier of Loyal and his children Cody Glazier and wife Destinee Graham, Cali and husband Gage Heath and their son Grant, Trey John Glazier and Rhett Glazier; son Kyle Glazier and wife Sheri of Loyal and their children Kol and Gentri Ann Glazier; daughter-in-law Lori Glazier of Omega and her children Whitney and husband Garrett Parker and their soon-to-be-born daughter and Rylee Glazier; sisters-in-law Ona Gay Glazier, Karen Littlefield and Janet Wehrenberg; brother-in-law Eddie Wehrenberg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife Cheryl β€œShortie” Glazier; son Dale Glazier; parents Marvin and Eileen (Garms) Glazier; in-laws Lesly and Lena Wehrenberg; brother Gary Glazier and wife Barbara; brother Les Glazier; sister-in-law Susie Wehrenberg; brothers-in-law Phil Wehrenberg and Jeff Littlefield.

Funeral services will be held at the Lomega High School Auditorium at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19. Interment will be held directly following at the Forest Home Cemetery north of Loyal.
Services are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.

Memorials in Tom’s memory can be made to the Lomega Education Academic Foundation, P.O. Box 1275, Kingfisher, OK 73750.

It’s a pile of rubble soon to be hauled off, but before being razed on Wednesday morning, one of the most recognizable houses in Kingfisher stood for nearly 100 years. See the significance of this specific tree (an oak) to this specific couple (the Rehermans) on this specific date (July 16) in an upcoming edition.

As Kendall Rogers reported earlier this evening, Ian Daugherty of Kingfisher and Oklahoma State University is signing a free agent contract with the Minnesota Twins organization. The most excited person about this news not named Daugherty? It might be his high school basketball coach Jared Reese, who already has his Twins gear purchased and is showing his support for his former post player.
In reality, Reese’s in-laws are β€œdiehard” Twins fans who live in North Dakota (not too terribly far from the Twin Cities). They even go to the Twins’ spring training.
So, Ian has some built-in fans already and Reese was already supplied with his Twins merch.

TROUT STEPS AWAY FROM FULL-TIME DUTY AT KPD

Chod Trout just thought his final day as a full-time police officer would quietly pass by.
Instead, his fellow Kingfisher Police Department officers and staff gathered to wish Trout well Monday on his final day with the department.
Complete with a butter pecan cake prepared by Tina Throne, the officers and KPD staff celebrated Trout, who has been with the department since 2009.
β€œI was surprised by that,” said Trout, who is a senior sergeant. β€œI didn’t expect them to do anything for me.”
Since joining the force, Trout has served as a field training officer, a sergeant and volunteered for duties such as spreading the awareness of the dangers of online predators to local youth.
During Monday afternoon’s gathering, officers shared stories, many with a common theme: Trout was always a good teacher and was always willing to hep everyone around him.
Known to pass down his knowledge from his year of experience on the force, several o his fellow officers even refer to him as their β€œwork dad.”
As for the future, Trout isn’t fully gone from the KPD. He’ll stay on as a reserve officer.
He also has two local businesses, a fitness center and a lawn spraying service.
β€œI need to focus on my businesses,” he said. β€œThere are people out there who trust me to work on their yards.”
But there’s more to it, Trout said.
β€œI’ve just been having some internal discussions with myself and everything I’ve come across, God was just telling me to step away…like he was saying β€˜I have something better for you.’
β€œSo I’m letting God guide my feet and do whatever needs to be done.”

World champs? World champs. The Oklahoma City Thunder aren't the only team from the Sooner state to bring home a world basketball championship this summer. Oklahoma GTA won the championship bracket Thursday afternoon in the AAU Boys World Championships D2 9-under/3rd grade division in Orlando, Fla. The team has multiple players from Kingfisher County and beat Ohio Smoke 68-55 in the finals. It beat Southern Premier of Louisiana earlier in the day to complete a weeklong run through the tournament. The picture of four players are those from Kingfisher County: Paxton Terrell, Jonah Matthews , Brett Reese and Cooper Wilczek. Among the coaches was Jeffrey Terrell (back left in group photo), a former Hennessey boys assistant coach who recently was hired as the head coach at Vici.
