YES, YOU READ THAT RIGHT.
The countdown is officially on. 🧡
On January 1, 2016, we opened Mango Mangeaux with a 10-year business plan, and now, in just five short months, that journey will come to an end.
January 1, 2026. 🥭🥭🥭
We never could have imagined the impact this little bistro would have, not just in Hampton, but far beyond.
It has been a ride. From countless media appearances, TV shows, magazines, newspaper articles, to dining in or taking out, brunches with friends, date nights, birthdays, promotions, proposals, and even rooftop weddings, we have celebrated life with you. And it has meant everything to us.
Of course, there were challenges: unjust audits, being overtaxed for meals we comped for our guests, frivolous lawsuits, COVID and all of the after effects of a global pandemic, labor shortages, chargebacks, dine and dashes. You know — all of the scary parts of entrepreneurship. We wrote about it all in our book Are You Ready For This Jelly? 📚

And most recently, being overcharged nearly $100,000 by our payroll company.
Who would have thought so much could happen in a place so bright and joyful?
But even with all of that, strangely enough, the good always outweighed the bad.
And one thing we’ve never had , not once, was a customer problem. And when we say we “never had a customer problem,” we don’t mean there were never complaints, because of course there were. What we mean is, we never had a problem finding customers. We’ve been consistently supported by a strong, loyal, and growing customer base for 10 years. From day one, people have come through our doors—some weekly, some on special occasions, and some just discovering Hampton because of Mango Mangeaux. And for that, we are forever grateful. To this day, we serve nearly 150,000 guests each year in our cozy 50-top bistro, and you’ve always shown us love, respect, and loyalty in return.
We have grown. We have learned. We have built a team. We have expanded our minds. And we have deepened our emotional intelligence in ways we never could have imagined.
For all of that, we are endlessly grateful.
To our customers, our clients, our team past and present, our neighbors, and our community partners like the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank, thank you. You helped make Mango Mangeaux more than just a restaurant. You made it part of the culture. A part of the community.
So, What’s Next?
Beginning in August, we will be making a few small changes:
• A streamlined menu filled with your absolute favorites
• We will also be offering countdown specials each month as we celebrate these final months with you.
This is not goodbye. We are still here in Hampton with our other businesses that continue to bring happiness, create joy, and expand our reach.
And yes… Mango Mangeaux may pop up again. Somewhere new. Maybe with new owners. Stay tuned. 🧡🧡🧡
