INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE~ Women in Film and Television-Cyprus (WIFT CYPRUS) and ESLA (Environmental Society of Lefka Association) empower individuals and organizations, fostering community networks and promote shared responsibility for a better future.
With no peace negotiations since 2017 in Cyprus, WIFT CYPRUS and ESLA, two women-led NGOs, are committed to peacebuilding. Drawing from Cyprusโs history and womenโs deep connection to Mother Earth, the initiative positions women as key agents of collaboration among local and European stakeholders.
The project aims to recognize and empower women in peacebuilding and environmental sustainability. It promotes cross-communal cooperation through the creation of a ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ง ๐๐๐ฆ๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ฅ honoring 975 missing persons from both communities, with one plant for each individual.
This initiative will be documented through:
a) A ๐ฃ๐ผ๐น๐ถ๐ฐ๐ ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ, developed after a two-day conference, by a Focus Discussion Group of academics, environmentalists, activists, and educators, for submission
to Bi-Communal Committees on Environment and Education, local bodies and the European Parliament.
b) A highlights video capturing the project's journey and impact, to be released by Women in Film and Television chapters worldwide.
