Premier Dukwana under one roof with Free State Government Senior Managers

Today, the Free State Premier Mxolisi Dukwana together with DESTEA MEC Thabo Meeko interacted with Free State middle and senior managers from entities, HODs and the Provincial Government departments to reflect on the Free State Government performance and future pathways to building a capable ethical and developmental state.

When addressing senior officials of the Free State Provincial Government, MEC Thabo Meeko explained that "you can't serve them with dedication if you don't love them. "

referring to public servants to double their efforts in ensuring that they work together as a collective and deliver on their respective mandates for free staters to participate in value chain beneficiation in order to grow the economy of the Free state.

MEC further emphasized that the fact that government must be a primary market for SMMEs so that they participate in value chain beneficiation and contribute to the economy; that government services are the main contractor of the GDP. Therefore, it needs dedicated public servants with passion to serve to make an impact.

"Let's serve the people of the Free State to the best of our ability because we are not here for ourselves but employed to serve the people of our beloved province with the passion, dedication, and dignity they deserve.

Let's recommit ourselves and be agents of change to better the situation and respond to daily challenges facing the people of the Free State, " Premier Dukwana concluded.

BRING IT BOK BOYS!

On Saturday, 28th October 2023, our country’s national rugby team, the Springboks will line up against New Zealand in defence of their World Cup title which they won in 2019 against England.

Our country, all 62 million of us, will be firmly behind our boys in their attempt to retain their coveted trophy. The Free State province is well represented in the squad, with four of our boys, Retshegofaditswe “Ox” Nche, Mbongeni Mbonambi, Cobus Reinach and Timothy Qumbu, the team’s fitness coach, having played a pivotal role in ensuring our path to the final.

All these young men, particularly Nche and Mbonambi, from Thaba “Nchu and Bohlokong respectively have been nothing short of exceptional for the Springboks. There were times when the team was facing certain defeat, but Nche and Mbonambi in particular, took charge and delivered inspiring perfomances which have led to us being on the brink of glory.

As the African National Congress in the Free State province, the birth place of our glorious movement, we are most inspired and proud of the young men whose achievements confirm our long-held view that young people’s dreams must be nurtured and supported to be fully realised.

Their achievements have reminded us of the enormous responsibility we have been entrusted with to ensure that our talented young people are jealously protected from the ills of the world and their talents are allowed to blossom and displayed to the rest of the world.

It is admirable what these heroes have been able to achieve, particularly given the historical ties that the sport has with our painful past. In fact, there is a small minority in our country still hallucinating that rugby is exclusively reserved for them. Such characters seriously undermine our efforts to unite this country, as the African National Congress we are happy that the majority of South Africans have rejected their feeble attempts to drive a wedge between the citizens of this country.

This unity will once again be on full display on Saturday when we take on the All Blacks. Our beloved Nelson Mandela correctly realised the power of sports and its ability to unite the people when he famously said:

Sports…has the power to inspire, the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand. Sports can create hope, where there was once only despair. It is more powerful than governments in breaking down racial barriers. It laughs in the face of all types of discrimination.”

As the African National Congress in the Free State, we wish the boys everything of the best. Win or lose, they remain our heroes. To “Ox” Nche, Bongi Mbonambi, Cobus Reinach and Timothy Qumbu, the ANC is behind you all the way. Make us proud boys.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of 🇧🇫 notified of the termination of the 1965 tax treaty between the two countries. The treaty had allowed French companies and citizens to avoid paying taxes on their income in Burkina Faso.

The decision was made by the transitional government of Burkina Faso, which came to power in September 2022. This government said the treaty is unfair to Burkina Faso and that it has allowed France to benefit disproportionately from the country's economic resources.

The termination of the tax treaty is the latest sign of decolonization moves by Burkina Faso and is seen as a major blow to France's economic interests in the country.
