BREAKING NEWS🚨🚨🚨

ACTION SA UNVEIL PATRICIA KOPANE AS FS LEADER

Herman Mashaba’s political party Action SA has unveiled former Democratic Alliance (DA) Leader, Patricia Kopane, as their first provincial leader in the Free State just moments ago. Kopane was unveiled by the party’s national chairperson, Michael Beaumont, at a scheduled press briefing at BON Hotel in Bloemfontein where Mashaba was also present.
Kopane, who effectively resigned from the DA over two weeks ago after19 years with the second largest party in South Africa, says the party was no longer a suitable home for her political career and that she is now a proud “Action-er” - indicating her official membership and thus allegiance to the fledgling, yet steadily growing, political organisation.
“When i officially resigned from the Democratic Alliance a few weeks ago, i informed that it was no longer the political home for me…and i seriously was searching for a new political party that i can call my home. Thanks God I realised that there is an Action SA in South Africa (sic). So today as I am sitting here I am a proud member of Action SA.
She continued: “…Positions come with responsibility and accountability; and it is not about you, its about the people you are going to serve.”

Kopane joins two other ActionsSA provincial leaders who have also famously ditched the DA for ActionSA, notably former Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor, Athol Trollip and former Midvaal mayor of Bongani Baloyi, who in 2013 was appointed to be the youngest mayor SA at age 26.

COUNTRYWIDE CAMPAIGN TAKES OFF IN LADYBRAND

On 1 September 2022, Ladybrand played host to the launch of national 9-9-9 campaign which is aimed at combatting Foetal Alcohol Syndrome disorder (FASD) in the country.
The campaign was launched by the Social development Minister Hendrieta Bogopane-Zulu at the Mantsopa City Hall is being rolled out as an interactive dialogue that seeks to educate South Africans about the dangers of FASD. It is Aptly named the 9-9-9 because it will be concluded this Friday on 9 September (9th month of the year) - which is International Foetal Alcohol Syndrome Day - after criss-crossing all nine provinces for a period of nine consecutive days.
“This initiative affords community members to exchange views on how to prevent FASD to protect children,” said the Social Development department in a statement.
The department adds: “Women who drink alcohol during pregnancy run the risk of giving birth to unhealthy babies because the alcohol is transferred through the mother’s blood and passes it on to the unborn baby through the placenta.”
After launching in the Free State, the campaign moved swiftly along to the Northern Cape, Western Cape, Gauteng, North West and Limpopo. Today it’s in Mpumalanga and then it will move over to the Eastern Cape on Thursday (tomorrow) before concluding in KwaZulu-Natal on Friday
Various stakeholders within the alcohol industry such as the Beer Association of South Africa and tavern owners are involved in this campaign, along with pregnant women, youth, parents of children with FASD, as well as different traditional leaders.
