Free State Kicks Off Summer Tourism Campaign at Gariep Dam

The spirit of travel and discovery came alive as the Free State Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (DESTEA) launched the Free State Summer Campaign at the scenic Gariep Dam, led by MEC Toto Makume.

“Let’s Explore Our Own Backyard”, encourages residents and visitors to experience the province’s hidden gems — from breathtaking landscapes to rich township culture and adventure tourism.

Through this initiative, the province aims to boost local tourism, support small businesses, and remind South Africans that the Free State is a place to go to, not a place to go through.
