*HOW TO RAISE CHICKEN FROM DAY OLD??*
1. One common skills every poultry farmer should have is the ability to raise chicks from day old but most people are afraid as soon as they hear "day old".
2. It is easier to raise chickens from younger stage without getting any mortality although sometimes too it becomes complicated.
3. To get a successful brooding make sure you vaccine your birds on time, give them the feed with required nutrients, protect them from predators, maintain a normal temperature and also proper ventilation along with clean bedding.
4. Do you use saw dust for bedding??? Naturally chicken feed on both plants and animals products therefore they sometimes also feed on the saw dust. Day old chickens need some nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, small quantity of fat and oil, vitamins, calcium and others. Therefore it's necessary for them to feed mainly on the food you give them for the first 3 weeks so they can absorb the nutrients well and survive.
5. One mistake most farmers do is using saw dust as bedding from day one. What's happens here is that the day old chickens will feed on the saw dust more since it's plenty and available everywhere in the coop therefore they will not eat the food you give them well. So they will end up malnourished and some will easily attacked by diseases and others.
6. What you need to know is saw dust come from different plant sources of which some could be poisonous. Therefore if you want to avoid mortality from the beginning avoid saw dust.
7. You can use papers such as graphic since it is clean and the chickens will then eat the food you give them since there is nothing else for them to eat than the food. Always make sure you change the papers after some days to maintain a clean coop. After two weeks can start with the saw dust. Good practice brings good results.
