His Majesty Letsie III, the Catholic king of the kingdom of Lesotho, commemorated his 62nd birthday 👼 in the Berea district on July 17. The festivities commenced at Bela Bela on July 16, within the territory of Principal Chief of Matsekha, Chief Peete Lesaoana, where a Holy Mass was held at St Theresa Parish, attended by five Lesotho Catholic Bishops. The principal celebration was in the town of Teya Teyaneng, in the Berea district.
It is customary for the King to alternate his birthday celebrations among the ten districts of Lesotho. The event is honoured by the Christian Council of Lesotho, which leads the prayer sessions. Attendees included the Prime Minister of Lesotho, principal chiefs, parliamentarians, ministers, and various government officials. The Lesotho army showcased its military drills, while different groups entertained the guests with cultural dances and songs.
Born on the 17th of July, 1963, the king of Lesotho was given the name Mohato Seeiso. He ascended to the throne following his father, King Moshoeshoe II. He is married to Queen Masenate Mohato Seeiso, and they are the proud parents of three children: Princess Senate Seeiso, Princess Maseeiso Seeiso, and Prince Lerotholi Seeiso.
