The all-new Mazda CX-5 is finally here 🇿🇦 and I got the opportunity to attend the launch and take it for a spin around JHB.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right? Well, Mazda went ahead and enhanced it anyway. It’s still as modern and elegant as ever, just a lot sleeker, with updated headlights and daytime running lights, new wheel designs, and new taillights with MAZDA written in between them.

Inside, there’s a new 12.9-inch touchscreen (15.5-inch on the flagship Homura) with Google built-in, and it controls almost everything, including the climate. Bye-bye, buttons 👋
 The CX-5 is available in 4 trims all powered by the same naturally aspirated 2.5-litre petrol pushing 132 kW/240 Nm via a 6 speed automatic.

The Changan Hunter diesel 4x4 doesn’t get the headlines its REEV sibling does but it’s just as serious and great value. The 2.0-litre turbodiesel pushes 110 kW/350 Nm via a six-speed auto, proper part-time 4x4 with low range and a rear diff lock. It’s priced from R449 900 for a 4x2 and R569 900 for this 4x4. No range-extender party trick, just a double cab that does the job for a price that makes you look twice.

Atlantis Dunes in an Isuzu? Count me in! Full Video Live on Cars With Smirk Youtube 🔥

The MY26 Isuzu MU-X is a light update. For the first time ever the top spec Onyx XT now gets Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control. It also receives Traffic Sign Recognition + Intelligent Speed Limiter, reading off the forward-facing camera and a dedicated dashcam port.

Headlamp welcome home lights are now standard across the whole range and you can adjust the duration or switch them off in the settings.

The 1.9TD in the LS has been refined. Smoother, better on fuel. Same 110kW/350Nm though; better manners, not more power and is available in a 4x4 MU-X trim. The 3.0TD carries over untouched.
