One of the first 5 picks for this reworked, one of the first 30 photos I took with my old Canon 5D MkIII with a pancake lense. That was the second full-frame I got my hands on what feels like a lifetime ago. What's been nice is actually picking a camera up and taking photos again, I feel less critical, like it did in the beginning as a hobby. With everything that's going on, my sobriety is probably the most important decision I've made so far in my life - aided by a desire to completely recover quickly from my next upcoming surgery. I still don't know what it is, but something deep inside me changed for the better this year. Even if that's all I have to say going into the new year alone then that's still something to be extremely proud of, against it the literal odds.

Busy week now quiet weekend in a busy place. Ilford film in the T3, I think somerhing else but can't remember. Originally as part of a cola proposal that never saw light like quite a lot of things but as they say hindsight is always 20/20. There's a lot of weird stuff going on in the world at the moment, got enough on my plate so trying to not spend time on social media - feels like it has become this silent yet loud place most of which is noise, between all the breaking news and leaps in OpenAI the world may already be a vastly different place to than it was even at the start of the year. Some of the most genuine, tender, laughing and loving moments are captured on a couple rolls of fuji acros b/w 400 35mm film that I ran through an Olympus (I think) point-and-shoot compact. I know this film was also expired, so I set the camera to 800 with flash and also had the lab on push it 1-stop more when developing. Another 2-3 photos to follow here were shot that way. Soft dark spots with well defined, slightly overexposed mids into almost cool whites.

I remember this day so clearly, better times maybe but I also needed to be pushed through what I have to become my own person..

Kodak Gold 200 Colour 35mm in the Canon F-1 manual double exposure. That body is maybe a year or two older than I am and just because it was the first "proper" camera I got to use as a child, and maybe the spark that lit the fire? Anyway, I'll always be bias towards it (as nice as the amazing Contax T2, T3's etc are). Throw in an Olympus XA2 and you pretty much have most of my top 5 list. I think this photo is also one of the first I came across when looking for through negs looking to start this.

A4 NEGATIVE PROCESSED AND ENLARGED TO A3 USING A HUGE SIEMENS MEDICAL FILM SCANNER, but in all seriousness the flexibility and range of motion I have almost totally recovered and in some directions actually improved I couldn't be more greatful - Dr. Hennie Bosch and team are literally operating on another level. Still only halfway, will know early November how quickly we must move on the left side hopefully without any collapsing of the joint which is just fractured in three but still intact. Keep needing to remind myself that this is just another area of my life that requires proper time and dueprocess in order for the best possible chance of long-term correction.

Sorry for the Monday morning spam, something was bugging me with the type and stroke on that font so I archived and reposted these 9 (I'll go back and fill out the film etc) then carry on from there.

Have a really great week, it's my birthday on Wednesday and I don't even want to think about it. I had totally lost my entire self x motivation and purpose for my life and was literally heading for a slab. It's going to take so much time for just myself to recover from what I put myself through let alone everyone else.. so I'm just going to leave it there and appreciate the day for what it right now, in this moment and not in the past and how much worse things could have been.

It's called "the past" for a reason. xx
