Mangaung Sent R556K To Ex-Councillors... For 3 Months After They Left The Job ๐ญ๐ฐ
๐ ๐ฆ๐๐บ๐บ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐:
Yoh ๐ญ Mangaung Metro really had their payroll on autopilot because six former councillors allegedly kept receiving salaries for THREE MONTHS after leaving office following the 2024 elections ๐๐ค
The municipality says it was just an "administrative error" after HR information was delayed, but the money kept landing like payday was still loading ๐ณ๐ธ
The slip-up reportedly cost taxpayers a spicy R556,000, with former councillors receiving between R35,000 and R40,000 a month after already packing their bags and moving on ๐ถโโ๏ธ๐จ
Now Parliament's SCOPA committee wants answers because nearly TWO YEARS later the money still hasn't fully found its way home ๐ญ๐
The CFO says the former councillors aren't refusing to pay it back and some have apparently been begging for banking details so they can return the cash. Kodwa SCOPA wasn't impressed and basically asked, "How does half a million rand disappear into admin vibes?" ๐๐ฅ
Meanwhile Mangaung is still dealing with financial headaches, budget drama and audit troubles while taxpayers are sitting there calculating every cent like it's month-end ๐ฉ๐
