Musina was clearly not the place to be doing dodgy business this weekend. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿšจ

During an intensified Operation CORONA crackdown along the Limpopo border, the SANDF joined forces with Home Affairs and SARS and the shopping list was LOADED. ๐Ÿ›ƒ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Authorities confiscated counterfeit clothing and cosmetics valued at R38,355,696. Several shop owners were reportedly fined or arrested in connection with the suspected fake goods.

Then came the ci******es. ๐Ÿ‘€

A Toyota Hilux valued at around R250,000 was intercepted while allegedly transporting illicit ci******es worth approximately R144,727. Both the bakkie and ci******es were seized.

But the Toyota Cross situation? ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ

A Toyota Cross worth about R575,000 was allegedly being taken towards the border when SANDF members gave chase. When the suspects realised the soldiers were closing in, they reportedly drove the vehicle into a river before abandoning it.

Basically โ€œIf we can't cross the border, maybe the river has a plan.โ€ ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚

And authorities weren't finished. An endangered pangolin allegedly being smuggled from South Africa towards Botswana was recovered, with an undocumented Botswana national reportedly arrested in connection with the suspected wildlife trafficking.

โš ๏ธ Important: The R38.3 million figure refers to the estimated value of the counterfeit goods seized. It does not mean one business owner personally lost R38.3 million.

A routine trip to the Maseru Port of Entry allegedly turned into a very expensive conversation after a SAPS Warrant Officer reportedly discovered R71,000 cash inside a travellerโ€™s luggage. ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿงณ

According to police, the 47 year old officer allegedly threatened to arrest the traveller for suspected money laundering unless R10,000 was handed over.

And allegedly, the traveller paid. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

After the alleged payment, the traveller was reportedly allowed to continue into Lesotho with R61,000 remaining.

But the story didn't end at the border. ๐Ÿšจ

The matter was reported, and the Free State Provincial Anti Corruption Unit investigated. Authorities subsequently obtained a warrant and arrested the officer on Thursday, 27 August 2026.

He was expected to appear before the Ladybrand Magistrate's Court on Friday, 28 August, facing allegations relating to corruption and extortion.

SAPS has stressed that corruption will not be tolerated.

๐Ÿ“œ ๐—ฆ๐˜‚๐—บ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜†:

The Nkandla saga just pulled another plot twist and this one comes with a R147.2 MILLION invoice. ๐Ÿ’ฐ

The Special Tribunal has ordered Minenhle Makhanya, the architect and principal agent on the controversial Nkandla upgrades, to repay R147,269,444.06 to the National Treasury.

The judgment, delivered on 26 August 2026, found that his appointment by the Department of Public Works and the contract were unlawful and did not comply with constitutional procurement requirements and public finance rules.

And the numbers? Yoh! ๐Ÿ˜ญ

The project was originally approved at about R27.9 million but eventually ballooned beyond R216 million. What started as a security upgrade apparently grew legs and started collecting extras tunnels, lifts, accommodation for security personnel, parking, landscaping, a visitors' lounge and the famous fire pool. ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿพโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’ธ

The Tribunal found that several of these works weren't required by the official security assessments.

But before social media starts shouting โ€œone man ate R147 millionโ€ that's not what the judgment says. Makhanya was held personally liable for the State's losses linked to the unlawful conduct, but the judge also acknowledged that he did not act alone in allowing the project's costs to balloon.

Now comes the painful part R147.269 million + interest + legal costs. ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’ฐ

The SIU also said its original claim was reduced by R7.8 million, taking into account money previously repaid by former President Jacob Zuma for non security related upgrades.

Basically, Nkandla has been quiet for a whileโ€ฆ but the calculator wasn't. ๐Ÿงฎ๐Ÿ˜ญ

La Rochelle allegedly turned into a serious police chase on Wednesday morning, 26 August 2026, when officers spotted a white Volkswagen T-Cross travelling at high speed. ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ

Police reportedly tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver allegedly treated those traffic signals like a suggestion and kept going. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

The chase eventually ended near Forest and Victoria Streets, where the three occupants allegedly ditched the T-Cross and ran on foot. ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿพโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’จ

By the time police finished connecting the dots, they had recovered three fi****ms, 70 rounds of live ammunition, two vehicles and false number plates.

The T-Cross was also reportedly confirmed as stolen, with the theft linked to a case opened at Parkview SAPS.

The three suspects remain in custody and are expected to face charges including possession of unlicensed fi****ms and ammunition, possession of a stolen vehicle, defeating the ends of justice and reckless/negligent driving.

From South Africa to Sackets Harbor, New York, Marcell M. Meyer, 45, has gone from living abroad to facing 12 years behind American prison walls. ๐Ÿšจ

According to U.S. prosecutors, Meyer pleaded guilty to possessing and distributing child s*xual abuse material.

The case reportedly began online ๐Ÿ“ฑ, where Meyer communicated with someone he believed was a 13 year old child.

But there was a problem the supposed teenager wasn't a teenager at all. ๐Ÿ‘€

It was an undercover Homeland Security Investigations agent. ๐Ÿš”

Authorities say Meyer sent multiple videos containing child s*xual abuse material during the communications, and investigators later found additional illegal material on his cellphone when he was arrested.

A federal judge sentenced him to 12 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release. He must also register as a s*x offender and pay $21,000 in restitution.

And there's another chapter waiting after prison: because Meyer is a South African citizen, U.S. authorities say he will be eligible for deportation proceedings once he completes his sentence. ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆโœˆ๏ธ

Two Men Nabbed After 3 Eskom Transformers Allegedly Found Hiding in Tembisa Yard โšก๐Ÿšจ

Tembisa woke up to a transformer sized surprise on Tuesday morning and this one wasn't coming to restore the lights. ๐Ÿ˜ญโšก

Two men, aged 22 and 33, were reportedly arrested in Phola Park, Tollgate B, after an operation allegedly uncovered three Eskom transformers at a residential property.

According to reports, two of the massive units were allegedly hidden inside the yard, while another was reportedly left outside on the pavement. Basically, whoever thought nobody would notice these giant metal monsters had apparently forgotten one small detail they are not exactly handbag sized. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚

The operation reportedly involved Eskom, Gauteng Traffic Police, TDP Security and Gauteng Crime Wardens, with the recovered transformers removed from the property.

The two men are reportedly facing charges linked to possession of suspected stolen property and are expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate's Court once formal charges are processed.

But here's where the story gets spicy ๐Ÿ‘€ the big question isn't only who was allegedly caught with the transformers?

It's who allegedly stole them in the first place, who wanted them, and where the next batch was supposed to go. โšก๐Ÿ”
