We visited on the very last day of the season — while most blooms had faded, we still found some absolute beauties. Add in stunning views, rich history, and a few toddler-approved moments, and you’ve got a perfect family adventure in the Western Cape.

In Episode 3 of Untamed Travels, we take on Franschhoek and Theewaterskloof in the heart of the Overberg, and let’s just say—it was not what we expected!

Join our small family adventure as we explore one of the Western Cape’s most famous towns, known for its breathtaking wine farms, delicious food, and rich history. But this trip had a few surprises in store! From exploring the Franschhoek Wine Valley to uncovering the hidden beauty of Theewaterskloof Dam, we take you along for the highs, the lows, and everything in between.

We found an absolute hidden gem for our stay Dennehof Plaas, a beautiful accommodation we discovered on Lekkeslaap! Nestled in nature, it was the perfect base for exploring. We also indulged in some interesting chocolates from Huguenot Fine Chocolates, enjoyed an incredible wine and pizza tasting at Villiersdorp Winery, and soaked in the breathtaking views of the Theewaterskloof Dam.
