๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ BULLS WELCOME JUNIOR BOK STAR LUAN GILIOMEE AT LOFTUS ON TUESDAY ๐Ÿ‰

Luan Giliomee reported for duty at the Bulls on Tuesday, earlier than his Sharks contract required. The two unions agreed a straight early release, with Junior Springbok ho**er Esethu Mnebelele going the other way to Durban.

This is the kid who went to Georgia in July and came home a back-to-back Under-20 world champion, then opened the United Rugby Championship season with two tries and the Player of the Match award against the Ospreys โ€” the first a solo run from inside his own half past four defenders.

Johan Ackermann now has a utility back who covers flyhalf and fullback, with Handrรฉ Pollard and Willie le Roux to learn from. Whether he makes the Jukskei derby against the Lions is another matter โ€” three training sessions may be a step too far.

๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ HEYNEKE MEYER TURNS 59 AND HE IS WINNING TROPHIES AGAIN ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Heyneke Meyer turns 59 today, and he is doing it as a champion coach again. In July the Dotsure SWD Eagles beat the Valke 41-21 at Outeniqua Park to win the Carling Currie Cup First Division, less than nine months after he walked back into the job in George.

He told Rapport it ranks with anything he has done in the game.

"Working here with players who don't have contracts, players nobody else wanted, and winning the First Division is a fairy tale come true." โ€“ Heyneke Meyer

Four Currie Cups and the Super 14 with the Blue Bulls, 48 Tests in charge of the Springboks, Leicester, Stade Franรงais, Houston, and now a title in the Southern Cape.

๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ HARRIS WINS 2026 JINGSHAN OPEN FROM TWO CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS DOWN! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Lloyd Harris was serving at 5-6 in the deciding set when Mattia Bellucci earned two championship points in a row. Harris saved both, won the tie-break 7-4 and took the 2026 Jingshan Open final 1-6, 6-3, 7-6(4).

Bellucci won more points than the champion, according to GoTennis match stats, and Harris still lifted the trophy. It is his tenth ATP Challenger title and his fourth of 2026, after surgery on a herniated disc in 2024.

He is South Africaโ€™s T20I captain, vice-captain in the other two formats, captain of Durbanโ€™s Super Giants for the coming SA20, and the holder of eight Test centuries in 50 matches.

"A World Cup trophy in his hands at nineteen, 97 on Test debut, and the fastest thousand Test runs any Saffa has ever made. Aiden Markram was never short of ability. He was short of people prepared to wait for it!โ€ โ€“ ๐ŸŽ™๏ธJay

๐ŸŽ VERSTAPPEN WINS BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX IN MALAYSIA AT SEPANG ๐Ÿ

Max Verstappen started on pole at Sepang International Circuit and finished there too, winning the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia by 2.307 seconds after torrential rain pushed the start back 93 minutes and cut the race to 55 laps.

Kimi Antonelli took second for Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton third for Ferrari, with Charles Leclerc fourth. Isack Hadjar came fifth after starting eighth on a five-place engine penalty, and Arvid Lindblad produced the recovery of the day: 30 places of penalty, last on the grid, tenth at the flag.

George Russell's race ended on lap 50 with a technical problem, Lando Norris went from fifth on the grid to ninth after a trip through the Turn 1 gravel under the safety car, and nineteen cars crossed the line inside 30 seconds of the winner.

๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ SHARKS BEAT LEINSTER TO RETAIN THEIR PERFECT RECORD IN 2026 URC ๐Ÿ‰

The Sharks are two from two in the 2026 United Rugby Championship after beating Leinster 26-20 at Hollywoodbets Kings Park, Edwill van der Merwe's try on 77 minutes settling it.

Leinster led twice. Robbie Henshaw opened the scoring and Sam Prendergast's penalty on 65 minutes put them 15-14 in front, before Andre Esterhuizen and Van der Merwe took the game away inside the last twelve minutes.

Thomas Clarkson's yellow card on 37 minutes cost Leinster seven points, and his own try on 48 came barely a minute after he had served out the rest of it.

Andrew Osborne's try on 80 minutes closed it to 26-20 and earned Leinster the losing bonus. Five log points for the Sharks, and a five-match losing run against the champions broken.

๐Ÿšจ MAX VERSTAPPEN IS BACK ON POLE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 301 DAYS!!

The Dutchman's pole time is 2 seconds slower than that of Michael Schumacher's in 2004, but t's worth noting though that the 2026 generation of cars is much heavier due to improved safety standards and being designed for close wheel-to-wheel racing!

๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ URC | LIONS DESTROY OSPREYS IN SECOND HALF AT ELLIS PARK ๐Ÿ‰

The Lions were 10-12 down at the break and finished 35-19 up, scoring 25 unanswered points after half-time. Kelly Mpeku scored twice while Dan Edwards sat out a yellow card, and the four-try bonus point came with it.

โธป
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ "The Lions had a sloppy first half, but it was great to see how they exploded in the second half with urgency!" โ€“ ๐ŸŽ™๏ธJay

Six tries and one conversion tells its own story. The Lions left 10 points on the tee and still won by 16. Perfect kicking from both sides and this is 45-21.

Ospreys, beaten 41-24 by the Sharks in Durban a week earlier, go home with nothing from the South African tour.

๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ PRETORIUS SMASHES 188 RUN T20 WORLD RECORD OFF 79 BALLS ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Lhuan-dre Pretorius has the highest individual score in the history of men's T20 cricket โ€” 188 not out off 79 balls for the Titans against the Flexbrands Knights in Bloemfontein. 15 fours, 13 sixes, strike rate 237.97, and 12 runs short of a double century when the overs ran out.

Chris Gayle's 175 not out from the 2013 IPL is gone. Dewald Brevis's South African mark of 162 is gone too. Titans 267 for 3, Knights 143, won by 124.

โธป
