We can’t continue to have a government who feels that it’s ok, to have illegal foreigners and call them guests

On immigration, the ANC reaffirms its call for the firm but humane enforcement of immigration laws, in line with the Constitution and existing legislation. Communities must not resort to vigilantism, crime remains crime regardless of who commits it. At the same time, foreign nationals must respect the laws of South Africa as guests in our country.

Statement on the Kzn scholar transport

STATEMENT ON KZN SCHOLAR TRANSPORT:

MEC Francois Rodgers wishes to state that the Government of Provincial Unity is determined to
ensure that scholar transportation remains available to pupils who are currently utilising the
system.

It is important to clarify that there are no plans to stop the government-sponsored scholar transport in KZN.

MEC Rodgers confirms that he has advised the provincial Department of Transport to re-start a new scholar transportation tender further to the establishment of irregularities in the appointment of a new service provider.

KZN Treasury will monitor the process to ensure adherence to supply chain management prescripts.

It is important to state that this process refers to a new tender and will not have a bearing in the
tender that is currently operational.
