Disappointing: Emakhazeni Local Municipality has failed to acknowledge the two brave young men (Sthembiso Mathibela and Sizwe Mthimunye) who walked from Pretoria to Emakhazeni to raise funds Cancer Awareness and the fight against GBVF, despite the municipalities commitment in the 16 Days of Activism.

Sthembiso and Sizwe arrived in Emakhazeni yesterday and will walk from Belfast to end their walk in Dullstroom today (Saturday), where they will be welcomed by a crowd of cheerful residents who have donated anything from R20 and above towards the cause.

The local municipality remains mum on this achievement, some community members said they have tried to reach out to the office of the Executive Mayor Muhle Mashele with no luck. This has made some community members to raise funds on their own to organize a welcoming ceremony for the two brave heroes.

Bongani Ndlovu (32) of Dullstroom laments that the farm owner Mr Dion Loots unlawfully demolished his home without notifying him on Monday 26 November 2025.

Ndlovu indicates that his family stayed in the farm for decades and he was left with it and his 43 year old brother who now resides in the township. He adds that he was employed by the previous owner but the current one,Mr Loots came in and told him that he can't employ him and he was forced to seek employment in Nelspruit which is where he's residing but says he comes every two weeks to his home in Dullstroom farm.

Ndlovu further says he was told by his uncle that there's something wrong with the house and he was shocked to find it demolished and with home furniture and appliances broken. He discloses that it was Mr Loots's intention to move his home out the farm because at first he offered him a R40 000 for it, which he refused.

He cites that he has since opened the case with Dullstroom SAPS and have engaged with Department of Land and Rural Affairs to seek justice and consider civil claim against Mr Loots.

Responding to the allegations,Dion Loots refutes demolition the apartment spitefully and says the house was unoccupied the whole of this year because Bongani Ndlovu last came home on the 24 December 2024.

He further says recently, the house was occupied by thugs who were cooking nyaope and as the result it is was burnt, and he got an advice from Dullstroom Warrant Officer to demolish what was left for his safety.

Mr Loots says he offered him options ranging from R40 000- R100 000 as a settlement but Ndlovu did not revert back to him about the offer. He insists that it was for his family 's safety as he stays in Heidelberg and only his son stays at the farm.
