• 1½ tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp salt
• 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
• 1 cup (240ml) vegetable oil
• 3 large eggs, room temperature
• 1 cup (240ml) buttermilk

• 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened

• 1 cup (90g) unsweetened cocoa powder
• ½ cup (120ml) heavy cream (or milk, adjust as needed)
• 2 tsp vanilla extract
• Pinch of salt

Instructions – Cake
Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and line three 8-inch (20cm) round cake pans with parchment. In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In another large bowl, whisk sugar, oil, and eggs until smooth. Add buttermilk and vanilla. Gradually stir in the dry ingredients until combined. Pour in hot coffee and mix until the batter is thin and smooth.

Chocolate Sheet Cake

Ingredients
• 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
• 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
• 1 cup (120g) unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1 cup (240ml) hot water or brewed coffee (for deeper flavor)
• 1 cup (240ml) whole milk (or buttermilk)
• 1 cup (240ml) vegetable oil (or 225g melted butter)
• 3 large eggs (room temperature)
• 2 tsp baking powder
• 1 ½ tsp baking soda
• ½ tsp salt
• 2 tsp vanilla extract

For Chocolate Frosting (optional)
• ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
• ¼ cup (30g) unsweetened cocoa powder
• 2 cups (250g) powdered sugar
• 3–4 tbsp milk
• 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and line a 9x13-inch sheet pan. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla, then beat until smooth. Stir in the hot water or coffee—the batter will be thin, but that makes it extra moist. Pour into the prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely.

For the frosting, beat butter and cocoa powder until creamy. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk gradually, mixing until smooth and spreadable. Frost the cooled cake and enjoy.

This sheet cake is rich, fudgy, and perfect for parties or family gatherings.

🍫 Chocolate Swiss Roll Cake Recipe
Ingredients

For the Cake:

4 large eggs (room temperature)

¾ cup (90 g) all-purpose flour

½ cup (40 g) unsweetened cocoa powder

1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp salt

¾ cup (150 g) granulated sugar

¼ cup (60 ml) milk (warm)

¼ cup (60 ml) vegetable oil

1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Cream Filling:

1 cup (240 ml) heavy whipping cream (cold)

½ cup (60 g) powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Chocolate Ganache Frosting:

1 cup (170 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream

2 tbsp butter (softened, optional for shine)

Instructions
1. Make the Cake

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 10x15-inch jelly roll pan and line with parchment paper.

In a bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

In another bowl, beat eggs and sugar with a mixer for about 5 minutes, until pale and fluffy.

Gently fold in warm milk, oil, and vanilla.

Add dry ingredients gradually, folding until smooth.

Pour batter into prepared pan, spreading evenly.

Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the cake springs back when touched.

2. Roll the Cake

Lay a clean kitchen towel on a flat surface and dust with cocoa powder.

Immediately invert the hot cake onto the towel and peel off the parchment paper.

Roll the cake gently with the towel from the short end. Let it cool completely while rolled.

3. Make the Filling

Beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form.

Carefully unroll the cooled cake, spread whipped cream evenly over the surface.

Roll the cake back up tightly without the towel. Refrigerate for 1 hour.

4. Make the Ganache Frosting

Heat heavy cream until just simmering, then pour over chocolate chips.

Let sit 2 minutes, then stir until smooth. Add butter if using.

Let cool slightly until thickened but still spreadable.

5. Assemble

Spread ganache evenly over the rolled cake.

Use a fork to create a wood-like texture (optional for a festive “yule log” look).

Chill for 30 minutes before slicing.

✨ Serve chilled, with dusted powdered sugar or extra whipped cream if desired.
