Pictures are circulating on social media showing people sleeping in the open at Beitbridge Border Post and buses leaving trailers at the Zimbabwe side of the border post.We have seen boxes and cartons of goods being left behind at the border after being taken by ZIMRA officials.Ladies and gentlemen, the Control of Goods (Import and Export) (Commerce) (Amendment) Regulations, 2026 (No. 15) – Statutory Instrument 59 of 2026 came into effect in late March of 2026.There is a whole list of goods you are not allowed to import without a valid import licence. The worst affected are cross border traders and cross border transporters( Malaicha).
Government says, the SI was promulgated to protect Zimbabwe local manufacturers.I will post screenshots of the SI and the goods which cannot be imported without a valid import licence.
