A 22-year-old man, identified as Bandile Ntaka from Mhlasini, KZN, is missing and believed to have drowned after being swept out to sea while swimming with friends at Umdloti Beach on Monday. 😢

According to reports, Bandile got into difficulty while swimming and lifeguards rushed into the water to rescue him. They managed to reach him and move him onto nearby rocks, but a powerful wave struck moments later, sweeping both Bandile and the rescuers back into the ocean. 🌊

The lifeguards managed to make it back to safety, but Bandile disappeared beneath the waves and has not been seen since. 💔

Search efforts were later suspended due to rough sea conditions. RUSA says its helicopter remains on standby and will assist in the search as soon as weather conditions improve. 🚁🙏

According to reports, relatives went to her residence and found a key outside. After entering the house, they allegedly discovered her lifeless body.

A hammer 🔨 and screwdriver 🪛 reportedly stained with blood were found at the scene.

Police say efforts to locate her husband revealed that he had been involved in a collision with a truck and is currently receiving medical treatment in hospital.

A 29-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man are expected to appear in the Kuilsriver Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 17 June 2026, after being arrested for possession and dealing in drugs worth an estimated R3 million.

On Monday, 15 June 2026 at around 04:30, members of the Anti-Economic Crime Task Team acted on intelligence about drug activity at a bed and breakfast in the Langverwacht area, Kuilsriver, Western Cape.
Upon arrival, officers located the suspects in a room and a white VW Polo parked outside.

A large black bag was spotted inside the vehicle. After searching the car, police discovered multiple bags containing mandrax tablets and crystal m**hamphetamine.

In total, 51 bags of mandrax, 5kg of crystal m**h, and R17 000 in cash believed to be proceeds of crime were seized and booked as evidence. 💊🚔

Both suspects were arrested and remain in custody pending their court appearance.
