Teenager Injured in Stabbing Incident: Mhlasini, KZN 🚨🔪
A 19-year-old male was seriously injured during a stabbing incident in Mhlasini, KwaZulu-Natal, in the early hours of Friday morning.
Information suggests the teenager was at the home of a female associate when her boyfriend arrived without warning. A confrontation reportedly followed, during which the suspect allegedly lost his temper, drew a knife, and stabbed the victim once before escaping from the scene.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) attended to the scene and found the victim under the influence of alcohol, which prevented him from giving a clear description of the suspect or details regarding his direction of escape.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Families of the workers who were trapped inside a container that was buried underground at the Lily Mine in Barberton spent Christmas still carrying heavy pain and unanswered questions. 💔🎄
The tragic incident happened in February 2016, when Solomon Nyirenda, Pretty Nkambule and Yvonne Mnisi were buried alive inside the container where they were working. To this day, their bodies have never been recovered, despite all efforts made to retrieve them — every attempt ended in failure.
Nine years later, the families are still unable to give their loved ones a dignified burial. Some relatives hold on to a painful hope that they may still be alive, while others continue to live with daily heartbreak and uncertainty.
The pain has never faded. The wounds remain open, and closure remains out of reach.

Man Arrested After Petrol Attack Claims Life of Four-Year-Old Child

A 40-year-old man has been arrested following a domestic-related arson attack that resulted in the death of a four-year-old boy.

According to police, the suspect allegedly had an argument with his girlfriend before going to her home later that night. It is alleged that he broke a window, poured petrol inside the house, and set it alight while the woman and her three children were asleep inside.

The occupants were awakened by the fire. The mother and two of the children sustained severe burn injuries but survived and were rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

Tragically, the youngest child, Kgatliso Etshetsang (4), suffered fatal burns and later died from his injuries. He was laid to rest last week.

The suspect is expected to appear in court tomorrow, where he will face charges related to arson and murder. Police investigations are ongoing.

Authorities have condemned the incident, describing it as a disturbing case of gender-based and domestic violence, and have urged communities to report threats and violent behaviour before they escalate.

MK Party Rejects Immigration Amendment Act Over ‘Dehumanising’ Language

The MK Party’s parliamentary caucus has criticised the use of the term “illegal foreigner”, describing it as dehumanising, lacking in dignity, and a driver of xenophobia.

The party said this was one of the key reasons it voted against the Immigration Amendment Act, 2024, arguing that the language used in the legislation undermines constitutional values.

In a statement, the MK Party said:

> “The MK Party rejected this Bill because it continues to use the dehumanising term ‘illegal foreigner,’ a phrase that fuels xenophobia, strips people of dignity, and contradicts the Constitution’s commitment to human worth. Language is policy, and this language is dangerous.”

The party has called for legislation that reflects human dignity, constitutional principles, and social cohesion, warning that harmful terminology can inflame tensions within society.

A bus travelling from Johannesburg to Malawi was found to be severely overloaded, raising serious road safety concerns.

Authorities have expressed alarm over the number of passengers and luggage on board, warning that overloading significantly increases the risk of accidents, mechanical failure, and loss of control. Such conditions also place passengers’ lives in danger, particularly on long-distance cross-border routes.

Officials have urged transport operators to comply with road safety regulations and reminded passengers of their right to safe and lawful transport.
