AK-47 bullets fly in zama zama shoot-out! During the operation, police discovered a bag containing 75 AK-47 rounds of ammunition.

๐Ÿ”Ž Background: Zama Zama Shoot-outs & AK-47 Ammo
Zama zamas are illegal miners operating across SA, especially in Gauteng, North West, Mpumalanga and Free State.

These groups are often heavily armed, with police repeatedly recovering AK-47 rifles, pistols and military-grade ammunition during raids.

Shoot-outs usually happen when rival mining gangs clash or when SAPS raids illegal mining hotspots.

An AK-47 is a weapon of war, not a civilian firearm โ€” possession of 75 rounds alone already points to serious organised crime.

SAPS says illegal mining is now linked to extortion, murder, human trafficking and drug trade, not just gold theft.

Many zama zamas are foreign nationals, but SAPS stresses that local criminal networks also play a major role.

Police operations are often conducted with Public Order Policing, Tactical Response Teams and SANDF support due to the firepower involved.

โš ๏ธ Why this is alarming
AK-47 rounds can pe*****te walls, vehicles and police vests.

Shoot-outs put nearby communities at extreme risk, even if residents are not involved.

Confirms that illegal mining zones are active war zones, not petty crime scenes.

AK-47 bullets fly in zama zama shoot-out! ๐Ÿ’ฅโ›๏ธ

Police uncovered a bag packed with 75 rounds of AK-47 ammunition during an operation targeting illegal mining activities.
This chilling discovery highlights how zama zama syndicates are no longer just stealing minerals โ€” they are armed, organised and dangerous.

Illegal mining has become a breeding ground for violent gang wars, extortion and murder, placing innocent communities directly in the line of fire.

๐Ÿš” SAPS continues its crackdown as residents are urged to stay alert and report suspicious activity.

๐Ÿ’” SHOCKING WATER DISPUTE ENDS IN TRAGEDY โ€“ DELMAS ๐Ÿ’”

A dispute over something as basic as water has turned deadly in Sundra, Delmas.

According to police, 71-year-old Adriaan van Tonder has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting Calvin Mothoa (33) at close range on Sunday afternoon during a bitter disagreement over access to a water supply on the same property. Mothoa allegedly tried to enter the garage to switch on a pressure pump to get water but was reportedly refused entry โ€” sparking the fatal confrontation.

Police say the shot struck Mothoa in the eye, and when his wife rushed to help, she was allegedly threatened by van Tonder and forced to retreat. Local residents gathered angrily at the scene, some threatening violence against the suspect.

Van Tonder appeared in the Delmas Magistrateโ€™s Court on 10 February and the case has been postponed to 17 February for his formal bail application. The community has voiced outrage and vows to protest if bail is granted.

This heartbreaking incident highlights how tensions over essential resources โ€” like water โ€” can escalate rapidly, especially in areas experiencing ongoing supply issues.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Calvin Mothoa during this devastating time.

๐Ÿšจ HORROR IN MACASSAR! ๐Ÿšจ
Gunmen opened fire on a taxi in Macassar Village in broad daylight, killing the driver and injuring three passengers in a terrifying attack that has shaken the community. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿฉธ

๐Ÿ“ What happened:
โ€ข The incident unfolded on Monday, 9 February, at around 4:20 pm along Magdaline Gilla Road when unknown suspects travelling in a bakkie opened fire on a minibus taxi.

โ€ข A 36-year-old male taxi driver was shot multiple times and died at the scene โ€” confirmed by police.

โ€ข Three adult passengers were wounded by flying bullets. They were taken to hospital for treatment.

๐Ÿ™ Survivor account:
One passengerโ€™s son shared that his father was in the taxi and narrowly escaped major injury, describing how everyone โ€œhad to cower and fall downโ€ as the shots rang out.

๐Ÿ‘ฎ Police response:
โ€ข Serious Violent Crime detectives are investigating the shooting as murder and attempted murder.

โ€ข Authorities are appealing to anyone with information to contact Crime Stop (08600 10111) or use the MySAPS app anonymously.

๐Ÿš• Taxi industry concerns:
The Cape Amalgamated Taxi Association (CATA) said the driver was one of their members and expressed concern about the escalation of violence this year. They hope this attack is an isolated incident and not a return to last yearโ€™s bloody taxi conflicts on Cape Town routes.

๐Ÿง  Background context on taxi violence in the region:
โ€ข Macassar and surrounding areas have seen ongoing taxi-related shootings and murders, often linked to disputes over routes and rival associations like CATA and CODETA. Talks have been held repeatedly to quell violence after previous flare-ups claimed multiple lives and wounded bystanders.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Share this to raise awareness about transport safety and call for urgent community and police action. Prayers for the injured . ๐Ÿ™

๐Ÿ“ข TRAGIC NEWS โ€” BUILDING COLLAPSE IN TRIPOLI, LEBANON ๐Ÿ’”

The death toll from a residential building collapse in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli has now risen to 15 people after search and rescue operations ended, according to Lebanonโ€™s National News Agency and civil defence officials.

๐Ÿ  What Happened:
โ€ข Two adjoining residential buildings in the Bab al-Tabbaneh neighbourhood โ€” one of the cityโ€™s poorest areas โ€” collapsed suddenly, trapping residents under the rubble.

โ€ข Rescue teams recovered 15 bodies and rescued eight people alive from the debris.

๐Ÿ“Š Impact on Residents:
โ€ข The buildings reportedly housed about 22 residents, meaning several people may still be unaccounted for or injured.

โ€ข Nearby buildings have been evacuated by authorities out of fear they might also collapse.

โš ๏ธ Why It Happened:
Experts and officials say the collapse highlights long-standing problems with aging infrastructure in Tripoli โ€” where many buildings were built decades ago and lack proper maintenance, supervision, or safety enforcement.

๐Ÿ“Œ Government Response:
โ€ข The Lebanese government has pledged to inspect and evacuate hundreds of at-risk buildings in the city to prevent further tragedies.

โ€ข Temporary housing allowances and support are being arranged for affected families.

๐Ÿ™ Our hearts go out to all the victims and their families. Please keep the people of Tripoli in your thoughts and prayers, and share this post to raise awareness about this heartbreaking event. โค๏ธ
