Our voice will be heard further away and our Wild Coast community will have more opportunity to be learned about by listeners further away. As technology progresses and the way media is consumed, content on demand becomes an integral part of a strategy, Wild Coast Radio will be placing Podcasts of talk segments on the website to allow a greater reach, also accessed from www.wildcoastfm.co.za

BUFFALO CITY METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITY FESTIVE SEASON ROAD CLOSURES AND TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT PLAN:

Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM) wishes to inform residents, businesses and visitors of the planned road closures and traffic management arrangements that will be implemented across various coastal and recreational areas during the New Year period, as part of efforts to ensure public safety, orderly traffic flow and effective crowd control.

These measures will be in effect during peak beach attendance times and will be enforced by BCMM Traffic Services, Law Enforcement, Security Services and the South African Police Service (SAPS).

IN QUIGNEY: (31 December 2025 – 1 January 2026 | 05h30 – 18h00)

Road Closures:
• Inverleith Terrace / Esplanade
• Cadwalan Street / Aquarium Road
• Longfellow Street / Marine Terrace
• Moore Street / Marine Terrace
• Buffalo Park Drive / John Bailie
• Mc Janet Drive / John Bailie
• Link Road / Marina Glen
• Moore Street / Fitzpatrick Road

Secondary closures may be implemented further up the above-mentioned roads depending on traffic volume and flow.

John Bailie Road will be closed at the Esplanade.

Parking will be available at Buffalo Park Drive and the Old Caravan Park.

Once these parking areas are full, access will be closed at Buffalo Park Drive and Commercial Road.

IN BEACON BAY: (1 January 2026 | 05h30 – 18h00)

Road Closures:
• Nyala Road / Kiaat Road

Officers will ensure that private entrances are not obstructed and that no fires are made on sidewalks, except in designated areas.

IN GONUBIE: (1 January 2026 | 05h30 – 18h00)

Road Closures:
• Riverside Road / Cane Street
• Recreation Road / Meier Street
• Gonubie Main Road / White Street
• Ocean Way / Smith Street

Ocean Way will only be closed once other areas are full. Only residents will be permitted access beyond this point.

WESTBANK: (1 January 2026 | 05h30 – 18h00)

Road Closures:
• Potters Pass / Fullers Bay
• Potters Pass / R72 (to be implemented once the Fullers Bay area is full)

NAHOON REEF: (1 January 2026 | 05h30 – 18h00)

Road Closures:
• Epson Road / Nahoon Reef Road
• Beach Road / Rosyth Street

KIDDS BEACH:

SAPS will be monitoring the main entrance and patrolling the beach area.

PATROL AND ENFORCEMENT AREAS

Active patrols will be conducted in the following areas:
• Buffalo Park Drive
• Fitzpatrick Road
• Fleet Street
• Esplanade Road
• Currie Street
• Beach Road
• Nahoon Reef Road
• Gonubie
• Beacon Bay
• Leaches Bay
• Gulu
• Kidds Beach
• Quigney area

TRAFFIC CONTROL AND ENFORCEMENT
• No vehicles will be permitted to enter cordoned-off areas, except for emergency vehicles.
• Vehicles causing obstruction will be towed away.
• Officers will assist with point duty where necessary.
• All incidents must be reported immediately to the Joint Operations Centre (JOC), which will oversee all operational decisions.

BCMM appeals to all residents and visitors to plan their travel accordingly, obey traffic instructions, and cooperate with law enforcement officials.

These measures are implemented to ensure a safe, orderly and enjoyable festive season for all.

Happy birthday Bobby Angel

Bobby Angel verjaar:

Vandag (30 Desember) is die 89ste verjaarsdag van die legendariese Country sanger, Bobby Angel.

Bobby is as Robert Engelsman op 30 Desember 1936 gebore.

Bobby Angel se professionele musiekloopbaan het in 1960 begin toe hy 'n kontrak as sanger by die Chiquita's restaurant in Johannesburg
losgeslaan het.

Dan Hill het vir Bobby sy verhoognaam gegee.

Hy het sy TV-debuut in 1976 gemaak saam met die legendariese sangeres, Mimi Coertse.

Hy ontvang in 1979 die SARIE toekenning vir die manlike sanger van die jaar.

Vanaf 1979 tot 1985 was hy die aanbieder van sy eie TV-musiekprogram, Gentle On My Mind.

Bobby het in die 1980's baie saam met die Country sangers van ons land opgetree en hulle het later die titel van Suid Afrika se "Country Legends" gekry.

In 1999 het Bobby sy eerste Afrikaanse album "Die Wals Van Die Seer" opgeneem - 'n pragtige lied waarvoor Jurie Els die lirieke geskryf het.

Bobby het in 2016 op die ouderdom van 80 besluit om af te tree. Hy woon nogsteeds in Gauteng.
