As a creative entrepreneur, I’m no different from the mom selling vetkoeks at the taxi rank, the uncle delivering milk on his bicycle, the aunt dishing out iKota from a corner shack, or the father mending worn-out shoes with love and leather.

There’s no boardroom, no fancy signage, no investor deck; just passion, hustle, and purpose.

We’re all in this entrepreneurial game for one reason: to solve problems.

Sometimes it’s the problem our customers face; needing to eat, to move, to look good, to tell their story.

Other times, it’s our own problems; keeping the lights on, feeding our families, turning dreams into invoices.

There’s no glamour here. Just grit.
No shortcuts. Just strategy.
No ego. Just impact.

Because at the heart of every entrepreneur, whether street-side or studio-based, is a deep desire to build, serve, and thrive.

We are cut from the same cloth. Woven with resilience. Stitched in purpose.

I see you.
I really do.

I know the little kid inside you never got the memo that the world could be safe, that hands could hold without hurting, that “I love you” didn’t have to be followed by chaos or silence.
I know you built armor out of whatever you had (rage, distance, sarcasm, perfectionism) because vulnerability once felt like handing someone a loaded gun pointed at your chest.

So when you snap or shut down or lash out in ways that leave both of us bleeding, I don’t look at you and think “monster.”
I think: there’s that scared child again, swinging wildly because someone long ago taught them that the only way to not get hit first is to hit harder.

Understanding your background doesn’t mean I’ll pretend the damage doesn’t happen now.
It means I can hold two truths at once:

1. None of this is entirely your fault.
2. It is still your responsibility.

That’s not condemnation. It’s compassion with its eyes open.
Real love doesn’t look at the wreckage you didn’t mean to cause and say “it’s fine.”
Real love looks at it and says, “I know where this came from. And I also know you’re more than where it came from. I’ll stay while you learn the difference, but I won’t keep absorbing the shrapnel so you never have to feel how sharp it is.”

You deserve understanding.
You also deserve the chance to outgrow the patterns that once kept you alive but are now keeping you lonely.

I’m not asking you to be perfect tomorrow.
I’m asking you to keep choosing, even on the hard days, to let the terrified kid inside you learn a new way, one tiny, shaky step at a time.

I’ll walk beside you if you do.
But I can’t walk through the fire for you.

That’s the part only you can do.
And I believe, really believe, you’re strong enough to start.🥹
