Die skok is nog groter, aangesien Daan een van Gansbaai Gholfklub se fikse gholspelers was en ook ‘n getroue koorlid van die NG-kerkoor. Sterkte word sy eggenote, Martie en familie toegewens.

Geluk aan die Franskraal Belastingbetalersvereniging om Franskraalstrand se veiligheid te verhoog en gerief te skep vir die veilige fietsstaanders wat by die parkeerterrein geïnstalleer is - knap gedaan!
Hierdie inisiatief beklemtoon julle vereniging se verbintenis tot die verbetering van die veiligheid en genot van ons pragtige Franskraalstrand.
Die fietsstaanders bied ‘n veilige en gerieflike plek vir fietsryers om hul fietse te parkeer, terwyl hulle die asemrowende uitsigte inneem. Die staanders se stewige ontwerp en strategiese plasing verseker dat fietse teen diefstal en skade beskerm word.
“Ons is verheug om hierdie gerief aan ons gemeenskap en besoekers te bied,” het Archie Chambers, voorsitter van die Franskraal Belastingbetalersvereniging, gesê. “Ons strand is 'n kosbare juweel, en ons is daartoe verbind om dit 'n veilige en aangename bestemming vir almal te maak.”

UPDATE: GANSBAAI RESERVOIR LEVELS 15 August 2025 @ 07:15

The Kleinbaai reservoir is empty, and the Gansbaai reservoirs are at 40%. As a result, residents may experience no water or low water pressure.
�The operational team located the break and opened it last night, but they couldn’t repair it due to a concrete block.
�They will continue with the work this morning.
�There is no estimated time for repairs yet.

Critical low reservoir levels in Kleinbaai

Please be advised that the reservoir levels in Kleinbaai are critically low. As a result, residents may experience low water pressure.
This issue is due to a burst water pipe, which is currently being repaired. There is no estimated time for full restoration, and even after repairs are completed, it will take time for the reservoir to refill and for normal water pressure to return.
We urge all residents to use water sparingly until further notice.

12 August 2025 - SWINE FEVER OUTBREAK IN BREDASDORP : *Urgent measures in place.*

The outbreak of African Swine Fever in Bredasdorp last week has already led to the deaths of many pigs and poses a serious threat to farming livelihoods across the Overberg, including the Overstrand area.

Efforts are now focused on containing the disease and preventing further spread during the week of 12–16 August 2025.
While ASF poses no threat to human health, it is highly contagious among pigs and can be devastating to farming operations.

The Western Cape Department of Agriculture’s Caledon office is urging the public and local farmers to remain alert and take all necessary precautions. One of the most effective ways to control the spread is through community awareness and by stopping the movement of pigs in the Overstrand.

As such, all pig farmers and residents are strongly advised not to buy pigs from outside the Overstrand area. Even local pig farmers are currently restricted to buy/sell across district boundaries.

The following groups are especially encouraged to take note and follow the guidelines:
• Pig farmers in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley and Stanford
• Pork sellers and Chisanyama operators along Swartdam Road in Hermanus (hawkers’ area)
• Their customers and the wider community

Please help by sharing this information calmly and responsibly. Avoid buying pigs from outside the Overstrand Municipal jurisdiction and report any signs of illness in pigs to local authorities or your veterinarian.
