When the opportunity to shoot with the one and only .mbatha__ presented itself, we said “Action”! We were delighted to be awarded the Hydro Boost production, shooting a TVC, web ads and stills for the South African market, and digital for Turkey and MENA territories respectively. Excited to see the campaigns unfold in the coming months! 📸

I met Simphiwe whilst on a photojournalism assignment by for . We were passing by his home where he was outside, preparing to cook the last portion of maize from a packet he’d been saving for weeks. He hadn’t eaten anything in 3 days and it was sheer hunger which now masked the fear of being left with an empty packet.

Simphiwe is old. He is proud. He is hopeful. But he is hungry. And so are many of his neighbours, just like too many South Africans and humans worldwide.

There are hundreds of worthwhile feeding programs we can support. But first we have to see, hear and feel. We have to stop shifting blame and ask ourselves what power we may have to make the world a gentler place, for the Simphiwe’s of the world, and for ourselves.

Leoni and Ruan were planning a humble and intimate wedding at the family farm. They did not have a large budget for videography and wanted to mainly capture the ceremony and speeches for their family archive. Our cinematographer worked with 2 cameras to maximise coverage, and we produced this beautiful (if we may say so ourselves!) highlights video together with the documentary footage which was requested. The song – Love is Just a Word by Jasmine Thompson & Calum Scott – was their wedding song, and the spoken word is that of Leoni, who created the most beautiful day, in line with the love that she and Ruan shares. We were privileged to play a small part in creating these special memories.

"OUMA - Mother of the Rooibos" - a RUBRO Brand film!

Filmed during the world-renowned flower season in the breathtakingly beautiful Namakwaland – the “home of rooibos” – this is the story of an organic farm worker who has been working in the fields her whole life, as did the generations before her, and their forefathers the KhoiSan. The brand film showcases the beauty of the area, the pathos of the farm worker, and the excitement of the product (Rubro drinks) which is allowing this small and poor community to have big dreams.

Behind The Scenes

Two late-winter days in and around Nieuwoudtsville offered just the right mix of beauty and action to provide a glorious backdrop for the story of “Ouma”, a umpteenth generation rooibos worker who proudly speaks about her life on the farm. DOP Rudolph Michel De Girardier doubled up as drone pilot whilst director Carina Bruwer backed up as second shooter and also captured some vibrant stills for the brand.

Carina also handled the edit, and the award-winning Mauritz Lotz was commissioned to compose the music.
