Update on the Case of Alleged Racist Raymond Slabbert

In the ongoing matter involving the alleged racist known as Raymond Slabbert, community member Melekile Peyi Mlungwana visited the Chatty Police Station in Booysens Park today to follow up on the case.

Mlungwana met with Constable Kupi and Detective Mbasa, who advised that the police are unable to proceed with the case at this stage. According to Detective Mbasa, they can only take action once there is confirmation of the existence and whereabouts of the person identified as Raymond Slabbert.

He further explained that there is a possibility the suspect could be using a fake identity or social media account, making it difficult to pursue a criminal case without concrete evidence.

Detective Mbasa recommended that Mlungwana approach the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC), as the matter falls within their mandate to investigate alleged human rights violations and online racial abuse.

Two Suspects Arrested for Possession of Unlicensed Fi****ms in Separate Limpopo Operations

Two suspects aged 36 and 41 were arrested during separate police operations conducted in Northam under the Waterberg District and Mokwakwaila under the Mopani District on Sunday, 09 November 2025.

In the first incident, members of the Northam Detectives, Rustenburg Tactical Response Team (TRT), and Thabazimbi Detectives conducted an intelligence-driven joint operation that led to the arrest of a 41-year-old man linked to a theft out of motor vehicle case reported in Northam during October 2025.

Acting on information received about the suspect’s whereabouts in Boitekong, North West Province, the team immediately launched a coordinated operation with support from Rustenburg TRT. The suspect was located and arrested.

During the operation, police recovered a pistol with cartridges and a magazine, along with a stolen laptop and iPhone. Some of the stolen property had already been sold to other individuals. While tracing the firearm, police were also informed about a bag left at a local tavern, which, upon inspection, was found to contain the recovered firearm. Rustenburg LCRC attended the scene for further processing.

In a separate incident at Femane Village under the Mokwakwaila policing area in the Mopani District, police arrested a 36-year-old suspect for possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Police responded to a tip-off from community members who were pursuing a suspect believed to be carrying a firearm. Upon arrival, officers found that the suspect had been assaulted by the community. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had thrown the firearm into a nearby river after being cornered. The 9mm pistol, with its serial number filed off and missing a magazine, was later recovered.

Both suspects are expected to appear in their respective magistrates’ courts soon to face charges related to possession of unlicensed fi****ms and theft.
