OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM COSTA RIBEIRO

After much reflection and legal consultation, I want to publicly clarify my current situation with Mamelodi Sundowns FC.

I firmly believe I have just cause to terminate my contract with the club — a position I will present in full detail before the FIFA Football Tribunal.

This decision has not been taken lightly, but it is necessary to protect my career and integrity as a professional athlete.

⚖️ It’s important to note that, under the “Diarra Ruling” by the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), any legal dispute between me and my former club will not block or delay my ability to continue my football career elsewhere.

In line with updated FIFA regulations, my International Transfer Certificate (ITC) will be released immediately upon request by any new club I join — ensuring that I can move forward with peace of mind, wherever that may be.

💬 I’ve already received interest from multiple clubs, including several within the European Union. I’m now carefully evaluating all options to make the best possible decision — one that aligns with my career ambitions and provides stability for my family. As we all know, a footballer's career is short and often unpredictable.

🔒 Lastly, I want to make this clear: my future club will not be involved in the legal dispute with Mamelodi Sundowns — not financially or disciplinarily. This matter rests solely between myself and the club.
